No. 734,198. PATENTED JULY 21, 1903.

PATENT OFFICE.
LOUIS N. STEIN, OF ROCHESTER, NEW YORK.
SLEEVE- HEAD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent NO. 734,198, dated July 21, 1903.
Application filed April 9, 1903. Serial No. 151,885. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LOUIS N. STEIN, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of North St. Paul street, Rochester, New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sleeve-Heads, of which the following is a specification.
Myinvention relates to asleeve-head which I is designed for use conjointly with a shoulder-pad and is intended to be inserted in the upper end of a coat-sleeve, so as to build the shoulder of the wearer to a greater width and prevent the sleeve from hanging too abruptly from a projecting shoulder-pad.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of my sleeve-head, and Fig. 2 is an edge view of the same. Fig. 3 is an edge View of pad when finished viewed from the straight shoulder in a desired manner.
edge of the turned hem, so as to produce upon the curved edge of the pad a thickened rolled portion 6. A pad is thus formed which may be applied to the shoulder of a coat, placing the thickened edge of thepad so that it will project beyond the shoulder into the upper curved portion of the sleeve and will support the sleeve of the coat so as to fill out the The structure is therefore called a sleeve-head or filling.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is I As a new article of manufacture, a sleevehead, substantially crescent shaped, composed of several layers of material stitched together by a line of stitches parallel to its semicircular edge, then turned inside out and stitched together by a second line of stitches parallel to the first line so as to produce a thickened semicircular edge, substantially as described.
Signed by me at Rochester, New York, this 4th day of April, 1903.
LOUIS N. STEIN.
