COMBINED PEN-HOLDER AND BLOTTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 469,433, dated February 23, 1892.

The invention relates to pen-holders, and has for its object the combination therewith of a blotter; and my invention consists in the combination, with a pen-holder, of a blotter detachably secured thereto and adapted to revolve about the pen-holder,'as Will now be fully described, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which the figure is a perspective View illustrating my invention in its application to a pen-holder.
In carrying out my invention the blotter c, in the form of a cylinder or roller, may be mounted on the free end of the pen-holder l) itself, so as to revolve thereon,the holder being of a general tapering form, except that portion of it which serves as an axis for the blotting-roller a, which portion b of the holder is preferably made cylindrical to form an annular abutmentb2 for one end of the blottingroller CL, the outer end of the portion h of the holder b having a button c applied or screwed thereto that forms the otherabutment for the blotting-roller and confines the same on its axis of rotation.
In the use of a blotter constructed as desc'ribed the penholder is placed at a right an gle to the Written line or surface and the blotter rolled over the Same.
The blotting-roller is made of light material-as, for instance, of Wood or sheet metalin the form of a spool, upon which the blotting-paper or other ink-absorbing material is Wound, so as to facilitate the removal of such paper and the substitution of fresh blottingpaper or other like material, a convenient and useful accessory or attachment for pen-holders being thus provided.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A pen-holderl having a cylindrical bearing b', screw-threaded at. its end, in combination With a blotting-cylinder d, mounted to revolve on said bearing, anda retaining device, such as a nut c, screwed to the end of Ithe bearin g, substantially as described.
