'Figa 3 is a side elevation showing in solid lines the buttonhook closed upon the breastpin and in dotted lines the button-hook extended therefrom.
My invention isa combination of a breastpin or brooch and a button-hook.
It consists of a button-hook pivotally mounted upon the back of a breastpin, and means to confine said hook in position when closed upon'the breastpin.
In the drawings, A represents a breastpin, which may be of any desired pattern orstyle. It has the usual .pin-tongue a, hinge b, and catch c.
B is a button-hook, pivotally mounted at CZ at one end of the breastpin A in the rear,
so as to be capable of turning one hundred and eighty degrees, as indicated in Fig. 3. At the opposite end of the breastpin A, at the rear, is a holder or catch e, adapted to engage the loop ot' the button-hook B. Said catch e is slightly bent, as seen ata: in Fig. 3, to give a slight friction and resilience the better to hold the hook when in the position shown in said ligure in solid lines.
Vhen it is not desirable to use the buttonhook B, it is closed upon the back of the breastpin out of sight, andthe device is useful as a simple brooch or ornament. By extending the hook, as in Fig. 2, it is available for buttoning gloves, shoes, 85o., and the part A then serves as a handle for the implement.
I claim as a novel and useful invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent- Y l. The combination of a breastpin which has a pivoted pin-tongue and a pin-catch with a button-hook pivotally mounted upon the breastpin, substantially as' specified.
2. The combination of the breastpin A, having the pin-tongue a, hinge b, and catch c with the hook B, hinge d, and catch e, substantially as described. i
ALBERT EPPLE.
