Description

R. REESE. (JHURN POWER.
No. 463,872. v EPatentedNov. 24, 1891.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROSIVELL REESE, OF FISHER, TEXAS.
CHURN-POWER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters'Patent No. 463,872, dated November 24, 1891.
Application filed June 22, 1891.
To all whom it mag concern.-
Be it known that I, ROSWELL REESE, of Fisher, in the county of Fisher and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Churn-Power; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which formpart of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in churn-powers; and it consists in the combi nation and arrangement of parts which will be fully described hereinafter, and more par ticularly pointed out in the claim.
The accompanying drawing is a perspective view of my improved churn-power.
The object of my invention is to construct a very convenient and simple churn-power,
which may readily be secured to the wall or other support at any desired height, whereby it is adapted for use in churns of different sizes.
A represents, two vertical pieces, which are provided withscrew-notches O ontheir edges, whereby they are adjusted at different heights on the wall. Secured to these piecesA is the horizontal portion B of the frame. Extending outward from the top and bottom of the horizontal portion are the two parallel members E, which form'a support and bearings for the dasher-shaft F. Secured in a vertical position between the horizontal supports E is Serial No. 397,158. (No model.)
the guide G, which is provided with an opening near its outer edge, through which moves the bar II. Secured at its opposite ends to the said bar is the string I, which is wrapped several times around the shaft F in the usual manner. Pivoted to one of thesupports A is an operating-lever J, to which the bar II is connected and by means of which it is drawn back and forth. The string I being secured by its ends to the bar H on opposite sides of the shaft F, it will be seen that by moving the said bar the shaft will be vibrated. By means of this construction it will be seenthat the upright G serves a double purposeguiding and also supporting the bow.
The shaft F is provided with a socket in its lower end, in which is secured a dasher K of any desired construction.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- In a churn-power, a vertical support, an operating-lever pivoted thereto, a dashershaft, a horizontal bar connected to the said lever, and a cord secured at its ends to the said bar and wrapped between its ends around the dasher-shaft, the parts being combined to operate substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix mysignatu re in presence of two witnesses.
i ROSWELL REESE. Witnesses:
