PATRICK F. HENEBRY, OF DANBURY, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO TIMOTHY KELLY, OF NORVIOI-I, CONNEOTICUT.l
SPOOL-HOLDEFL `.SPFCIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 460,534, dated September 29, 1891.
Application filed February l0, 1891. Serial No. 380,985. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PATRICK F. HENEBRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Danbury, in the county7 of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sewing-Utensil Cabinets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in zo the art to which it appertains to make and use the saine.
My invention has reference to certain new and useful improvements in cabinets for sewing utensils, and has for its object to provide a neat and serviceable device of this description which shall be readily attachable to any suitable object-as, for instance, the cabinet of a sewing-machine.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is 2o a perspective showing my improvement attached to the cabinet of a sewing-machine; Fig. 2, a detail plan View of said improvement; Fig. 3, a detail perspective of the frame; Fig. 4, a detail perspective of the bar which carries the supports for the sewingutensils, and Fig. 5 a detail elevation showing the bars folded inward.
Similar numerals denote like parts in the several figures.
the like may be placed.
5 is a pin or needle cushion secured to the upper part of my cabinet.
6 are spring-clasps extending from the back of the frame, whereby the latter may be readily secured to the bars 7 of the sewing-machine cabinet 8. (Shown at Fig. l.) However, the back of the frame may be provided with hooks or analogous' fastening devices, and I do not wish to be limited to any par- 6o ticular manner of securing my improvement to any object, since this is not of the essence of my invention.
The aim of my invention is to provide a serviceable and convenient article which may be attached to any object handy to the sewer.
In order to support the bars, so that the spindles and hooks are extended in the proper position, said bars are turned and given an end-thrust, so that the pins 13 will engage 7o with the notches 12, as shown at Figs. 1 and 2, while the folding of said bars so that the spindles and hooks will extend in the reverse direction is accomplished by releasing said pins from the notches and turning the bars to the position shown at Fig. 5. It is very desirable that the bars should be capable of folding, because otherwise the spindles and hooks would seriously interfere with the packing of my improvement for shipment. 8o
All the parts of my improvement are preferably made of iron, since great strength and durability are thereby afforded.
Of course various ordinary devices may be utilized for locking the bars in the position shown at Fig. 1, and I therefore do not Wish to be limited in this particular, since suoli devices are merely adjunctive and not essential to my invention, and, moreover, the friction of the bars within the hoops 9 may be 9o sufficient to retain said bars in any desired position.
I claim- A spool-holder comprising a frame having horizontal brackets extending outwardly from the front thereof and horizontal bars journaled so as to revolve freely on said brackets, said bars having projecting therefrom spool-spindles, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
