A further object of the invention is to provide a perpetual calendar and arrange the parts to aiord space for advertising.
The invention consists in the construction and novel combination oi' parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended.
In the drawings, Figure l is an elevation view of an indicator embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional view on line c oc of Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a similar view on aline yy of Fig. l. Fig. el, is a detail view of the T- shaped bar. Fig. 5 is a similar view of one of the sliding pointers, and Fig. (i is an enlarged detail view of the T-shapcd bar.
Referring' to the accompanying drawings, l designates an indicator card or board provided near each vertical side with two columns 2 and 3, containinga list of the various articles occasionally needed about a house. Secured to the card l and arranged between the columns is a bar 4f, upon which slide pointers 5, extending out upon opposite sides of the bar and adapted to be arranged opposite the names of the various articles needed in the columns 2 and 3. The bar -it is con- :ti ucted of sheet metal bentlongitudinally to form a top flange 6, and a web 7 to provide a T-shaped bar et, and the pointer 5 is provided at its inner end with aloop S, having an opening 9 in its lower side adapted to receive the web 7 of the bar and allow the loop to embrace the tlangeG and slide thereon to bring the pointer opposite any one of the naines in the list. The pointer is held opposite aname, and is prevented accidentally slipping therefrom by a spring-tongue l0, formed integral with the pointer by sliding the metal of the loop, and the said spring-tongue is adapted to engage the outer face of the bar. The sheet metal at the edge of the web 7 is bent outward parallel with the iiange 6 to form a bearing or inner face for the bar, and the latter is provided at intervals with integral portions ll, which are passed through kert's l2 of the board or card and bent against the rear face of the latter to secure the bar in place.
rlhe upper portion 13 of the space between, with sets of columns, is designed to be used for advertising and the lower portion is provided with a perpetual calendar 14, consisting of the usual table l5 of days and an endless band 16, arranged in parallel slots 17 of the board or card l. and adapted to expose a portion of its surface, and having' marked thereon the names of the days of the week, which are arranged in series. There are seven different sets of names, each commencing with a diierent day, thereby enabling the calendar to be adjusted for any month in any year.
The top of the indicator card lis provided with a perforation 1S to enable the indicator to be conveniently hung upon a nail or the like.
l. An indicator comprising a card having the lists or columns of names 2 and 3 arranged in pairs, the bar constructed of sheet metal and bent te form the top iiange 6 and the web 7, and provided at intervals with the integral portions ll, adapted to be passed through the card and bent against the saine for securing the bar in place, and a sliding pointer arranged upon the bar, substantially as described.
2. An indicator comprising a card having the lists or columns, the T-shaped bar secured to the card and the pointer sliding on the bar and constructed of metal and provided with a loop having the transverse opening to receive the web Qfhiiie bzw md provided with the ir1- In testimony that I einm the foregoing Ls Tegmi swing-,tongue adapted to receive the my own I have hereto affixed mysignature in 1o bar, substantially as described. presence 0i' two Witnesses.
3. A11 indicator comprising :L cfu-ci having' Y i i ,T 5 the lists o1' columns, the bar secured to the TAMRS L DA SON' card, and the pointer sliding on the bm` and Witnesses: provided with the springtongue, subst-an- AQUILA A. WASHBURN, tiaiiy as described. JAMES YV. ORB.
