SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Fatent No. 443,520, dated December 30, 1890.
Application filed April 24, 1890. Serial N0- 349,358. (No model.)
In the drawings accompanying and forming a part of this specification, Figure l represents my device, and Fig. 2 shows one way of using it.
The chain 1 is of ladder construction-that is to say, it has a set of cross-bars regularly arranged. It is fiat, it is flexible in one direction, and it may be twisted to a limited extent only. The chain 2 is flexible and twistable. It is attached to chain 1 by means of clasp 7, and it carries the hooked key 3. The connecting-hole of the key is shown at 4, the key at 5, and the hook at 6.
In operation the loop 8 is made to embrace a clip 10 of a hame, the chain 1 is passed through the loop and through the clip 9 of the opposite hame, and a fastening is made by catching the hook 6 on abar of chain 1 in a readily obvious manner or by passing the key through a space in the chain, as seen in Fig. 2.
The ladder-chain provides a connection for the hook or key, and the twistable chain permits the key-bar to be effectively used.
I claim-- A heme-fastener comprising a chain having rigid transverse bars, a hooked loop attached to one end, and a section of flexible chain carrying a hooked key attached to the other end, substantially as and for the purpose described.
In testimony whereof I sign my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
