To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LEWIS QUIGG, a citizen of the United States, andaresident of Spring City, Chester county, Pennsylvania, have invented certain Improvements in Lap-Lasts, of

which the following is a speciiioation.

My invention relates to the construction of that class of lap-lasts designed more especially for the repairing of boots or shoes, one obro ject being to combine in a convenient form a number of such lasts of the different sizes most commonly employed, and a further object being to so construct the shank of the last that when in use the last may be elevated to a convenient height above the knees of the operator, as fully set forth hereinafter.

The last shown in Fig. l is constructed With an H -shaped body, the four shanks A extendz 5 ing outwardly at an angle from the opposite end of the central bar B, all of these Shanks being in the same plane and each shank terminating in a last x. The lasts are formed of a shape most convenientfor repair-Work, and

3o are of different sizes, the four different lasts shown being of such relative size that all ordinary Work can be fitted to them. On each shank A, at some distance from the bottom of the last, is formed an outwardly-projecting knee-rest a, so that when the last-frame is held upon the lap the last which is being used will be at some distance above the knees of the operator and in the most convenient position `for Work.

Fig 2 illustrates a single last in which knee- 4o rests a are formed upon the opposite sides of the shank.

The whole structure, as shown in Fig. l, may be cast in one piece, or the lasts may be removable, in order that other sizes or styles of lasts may be fitted to the Shanks, as desired.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- 5o The herein-described multiple-last structure, comprising a series of radiating shanks, lasts at the outer ends of said Shanks, each of said Shanks being provided with a kneerest projecting therefrom at some distance from the center of the last structure, substantially as specified.
