No. 1 143 747 dicloses an installation for drying cereals in which the products to be dried are first heated and then cooled, and the hot air and the cold air are passed vertically and upwards through superimposed conveyors on which the products pass successively. The temperatures are therefore the same in all the stages of the installation.
- This method of dehydration is not suitable for products such as fruits, because those which are thoroughly ripe dehydrate more easily than the others which are larger and contain less sugar.
- Other driers are also known in which the fruits are placed on wooden or metal trays; these trays are placed on top of one another and on trolleys or trucks which are themselves then introduced into the drying installation by means of a winch or a thrust jack.
