Specification forming partof Letters Patent No. 42, 123. dated March 29, 1864.
To ail whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLARD H. SMITH, of the city and county of New York, in the State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Wick-Tube for Lamps for Burning Kerosene Oil; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in Which- Figure 1 is a cross-section of one form of my tube, and Fig. 2 is a perspective View of another form.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts of the figures.
To enable others skilled in the art to fullyunderstand and construct my invention, I will proceed to describe it.
All parts of the lamp, except the wick-tube, may be of any of the forms now in general use.
Figs. 1 and 2 represent two forms of my improvementthe base of one wick-tube being circular and the other semicircular, the lower orifice, a, in both being simicircu'ar, as represented in Fig. 3.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The construction of flat wick-tubes with a semicircular orifice at the bottom, whether the base of the tube be circular or semicircular. a
2. The wick-tubes represented by Figs. 1 and 2 constructed as represented, and for the purpose specified.
