Description

H. B. 11311011. SAFETY RAZOR.
(No Model.)
Patented Nov. 26, 1889.
WITH E5555 ymM/fff WW WwW5$fi UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
' HENRY l3. LEACII, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO LEONARD II.
COOK, OF SAME PLACE.
SAFETY-RAZ'O R.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 416,113, dated November 26, 1889.
Application filed July 18, 1889. Serial No. 317,904- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY B. LEACH, of Boston. in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have IDXQHCGCI a certain new and useful Improvement in Safety-Razors, of which the following, takenin connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a IO safety-razor frame with a detachable handle,
said handle being adapted to hold the razorframe firmly during the operation of shaving, but arranged insuch form that it can be easily detached when necessary. I attain this object by the mechanism shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective View of the razor complete. Fig. 2 is a plan of the underside. Fig. 3 is a plan of the under side with the handle removed. Fig. 1 is a vertical section. Fig. 5 is a view showing a modification of the handle.
Referring to the drawings, A 13, Figs. 1, 2, and 3, show the blade and razor-frame.
A shows the clips; A the guard.
C, Fig. 1., shows the detachable handle.
O, Figs. 1, 2, 3, and 4., is a projection on the back of the frame.
H, Fig. 1, shows the clamping device.
E E, Fig. 5, shows a modification.
The back B of the frame B has a space of sufficient width to hold the projection C.
The handle O is provided with an indentation D. The shank or projection O has a shoulder 17 and an indentation D. The handle G can be attached to the frame by simply forcing it onto the shank or projection C and up to the shoulder b. The indentation D is forced into the indentation D, as shown in the vertical section, Fig. 4E, and holds it very firmly, although it can be removed by applying a little pressure. The handle cannot revolve when in position on the frame. The
blade is held to the frame by clips A and a suitable clamping device bearing upon the back of the blade.
In the construction shown in Fig. 5 the indentations E E are made in the form of a bayonet-point.
I claim-- In a safety-razor, the combination of a frame, with its blade A, guard, clips, and clamping device, a projection O, with its indentation D, and handle 0, with the indentation D, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
I11 testimonywhereof I have sign ed my name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, on this 16th day of July, A. D. 1889.
HENRY B. LEAGH.
