Description

B. FUCHS. ALBUM LEAF (No Model.)
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BERNIIARD FUCHS, OF RAWVITSOI-I, PRUSSlA, GERMANY.
ALBUM-LEAF.
SZPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 415,942, dated November 26, 1889. Application filed J ne 12, 1889- Serial No. 314,045. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that LBERNHARD FUCHS, a subject of the King of Prussia, residing at Rawitsch, in the Kingdom of Prussia, Ger many, have invented new and useful Improvements in Album-Leaves, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a divided or folded photographic-album leaf. The photographs are inserted between the two halves of each leaf, and the latter are then folded and looked upon each other to retain the photograph in place.
The invention consists in the various features of improvement more fully pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a face view of my album-leaf, showing it open. Fig. 2 is a similar View showing it closed.
The letters a I) represent the two halves or sections of one leaf of a photographic album a connected by a flexible hinge-piece c. The edge of section a is re-enforced by a metal strip 0, and the edge of section b is re-enforced by a similar metal strip 0 d d are suitable catches secured to section a or strips 0 and provided with a bolt 6, that may be turned by means of a suit-able key applied to a spindle f. The strip 0 is provided with notches 7L, adapted to receive catches d.
In use the photographs are put in place beneath lugs 2'. Then the parts a Z) are folded upon one another and thebolts e are revolved to engage mortises in leaf 1). a b are interlocked and the photographs are retained in place.
The advantage of this construction is that the album will retain its normal thickness Whether full or empty. The insertion of the photographs will not be apt to injure the leaves. Moreover, the photographs cannot be abstracted except by the possessor of the key.
What I claim is- 1. The combination of a folding albumleaf consisting of two sections a. b, connected by a hinge with a catch for locking the sections upon one another, substantially as specified.
2. The combination of a folding albumleaf with catches for locking the sections upon one another and with lugs -i for holding the photographs in place, substantially as specified.
3. The combination of a folding albumleaf with the metal strips 0' c and with the catch (Z, having bolt e and spindle f, the metal strip 0 being notched for the reception of the catch, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I have signed my n ame to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
BERNIlARD ruons.
