Description
(N5 Modem 1V1. MEDART.
PARCEL CARRIER 0R HOLDER.
No. 415,115. Patented Nov. 12, 1889.
ATTORNEY.
UNITED STATES MARTIN MEDART,
PATENT OFFICE.
OF BELLEVILLE, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO MARTIN V. MEDART, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
PARCEL CARRIER OR HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 415,115, dated November 12, 1889.
Application filed June 11, 1888. Serial No. 276,765. (No model.)
' To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, MARTIN MEDART, a citizen of the United States, residing at Belleville, in the county of St. Clair and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Parcel Carriers or Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
This invention relates to that class of car- .riers or holders for parcels, bundles, or other articles to be carried by hand, and in which a double skeleton loop or noose of wire encircles the object and is provided with a handle for convenience in carrying; and the present improvement has for its object to provide an improved holder or carrier embodying the features of 'cheapness of manufacture, durability and strength of construction, and adaptability to fold into a compact space in packing a number of the holders together for shipment, &c. I attain such object by the construction and arrangement of parts illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l-is a perspective view of myimproved carrier open for use, and Fig. 2 a similar View of the same folded together ready for packing.
As represented in the drawings, my improved carrier consists of a series of square yoke-shaped wire links A, each formed with parallel straight arms a and connecting crossbar a joined together, one to the other, by outer eyes Ct on the free ends of the one link fingiaging inner eyes a of the next adjacent free ends of said link into the ends of the handle, as shown.
In use the handled end .of the carrier will be passed through the closed opposite end'of such carrier to form a loop or noose that encircles and adjusts itself to the parcel to be carried.
My improved carrier can be easily and readily lengthenedor shortened to meet different uses by the addition or removal of one or more of the links A, that constitute the same.
Having thus fully described my said invention, What I claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A parcel carrier or holder consisting of a series of square yoke-shaped wire links A, each formed with parallel straight arms a connecting cross-bar a outer eyes a, and inner eyes a, and the handle B, having fastenings b, by which .it is secured to the outer eyes of the outer link, the links being secured together by the adjacent outer and inner eyes, permitting the'links to fold together and rest flat against each other, substantially as described and shown.
In testimony whereof witness my hand this 8th day of J une, 1888.
