ADJUSTABLE ELBOW-REST FOR TELEPHON ES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 410,059, dated August 2'7, 1889.

My invention relates to an improvement in elbow-rests for telephones; and it consists in the peculiar construction and combination of devices that will be more fully set forth here,- inafter, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation of a telephone-case, my improved elbow-rest being shown in the correct relative position to the left of the telephone-case. Fig. 2 is a detailed perspective view, partly in section, of my improved elbow-rest; and Fig. 3 is an enlarged elevation of the jointed arms.
The elbow-rest A is of the form shown, and
has projecting from its center the down ward- I extending tube B, provided with a set-screw c. In this tube is telescoped a rod or arm 0, which is jointed to the rod or arm 0 by means of a pivotal screw (1, and the latter has a thumb-nut D, which enables the jointed rods to be rigidly clamped together at any desired adjustment. The rod C has at its inner end a depending pintlc e,which is journaled in vertical openings in the ears g of a plate f. Said plate has screw-holes at its upper and lower ends, and is thereby adapted to be attached to the wall or other convenient support in proximity to the telephone-case.
It will be apparent from the foregoing description and by reference to the drawings that the elbow-rest may be adjusted vertically and swung to any desired position, and that it will form a convenient support for the elbow of a person engaged in receiving a telephone message,
Having thus described my invention, I claim- The elbow-rest for telephones, comprising the concave piece A, having the depending tube B and set-screw c, the arm or rod 0, telescoped in said tube, the arm or rod 0, having the pintle e at its inner end, the screw (1, pivoting the arms 0 G together and having the thumb-nut D, for the purpose set forth, and the bracket-plate f, having the ears g,in which the pin tie e is pivoted,substantially as described.
