JOSEPH KINTZ, OF BALLARD VALE, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND THE ORAIGHEAD la 'KINTZ COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
MIRROR-STAND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 409,153, dated August 13, 1889.
Application filed December 11, 1888. Serial No. 293,262. (No model.)
To all wir/0711, t may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH KINTZ, of Ballard Vale, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts,a citizen of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stands, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention relates to improvements in stands or analogous receptacles containing an interior compartment for dressingmaterials, artists materials, dac., a drawer or tray adapted to be pulled out therefrom, and a hinged top or cover to the said receptacle, connected with the drawer or tray and adapted to be brought automatically into an inclined position by the pulling out thereof, and brought back to its normal or closed position by the returning of the drawer or tray to its place. If the receptacle is to be used for dressing purposes, this top may be provided with a mirror, and I have herein so repre.
sented it.
In the accompanying drawings I have shown at Figures 1 and 2, in vertical section, a device embodying my present invention in the form now best known to me, Fig. 1 showing the top in its inclined position or when in use as a dressing-stand, and Fig. 2 showing the top in its horizontal position.
In the drawings, A represents the body of the stand or table, which may be of any convenient form.
B represents the top of the stand or table, in which is set a mirror O. The top, which contains. the mirror, is so connected with the body of the stand or table as, for example, by hinges, as indicated at D-that it is capable of being moved from a horizontal position, as shown in Fig. 2, to an inclined position, as
shown in Fig. 1. This top is so connected 4o with a tray E, arranged to slide in and out of the stand or table below the top-as, for eX- ample, by means of a link-connection F, pivoted to the top and slide-that when the tray is pulled out the top will stand inclined and 45 when the tray is pushed in will lie iiat. In practice I prefer to employ a pair of these links, one at either side of the top. The part E when pulled out will serve as a tray, or, it`
preferred, it may be provided with a rail, so 5o substantially as shown in Fig. l, that they 6o will act to sustain the top in its desired inclined position for use.
I claim- The combination of a stand having a hinged top, a tray adaptedto slide into and out of the 6 5 stand below the top, and a pivoted link-connection between the tray and top, whereby the top will be raised and supported when the tray is pulled out and be lowered when the.
tray is pushed in, substantially as described. 7o
In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this 1st day of December, A. D. 1888.
JOSEPH KINTZ.
