COMBINED DRESSER-CABINET AND DISAPPEARING TABLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 16, 1915.
Application filed October 2, 1913. Serial No. 793,004.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, RAYMOND E. MoKnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Combined Dresser-Cabinet and Disappearing Table.
My invention relates to improvements in hygiene toilet cabinets.
The invention has among its objects the production of a sanitary, etficient and compact cabinet adapted to contain toilet and medicinal articles for use in a new and convenient combination with a mirror and table or shelf.
It is useful in the hospital home and very desirable for use in hair dressing parlors. The mirror is stationary and always in view after the container has been moved to an open position, convenient and easily accessible to the operator. A hinged table or shelf aflords'a place for articles in use and when container is in closed position, the hinged shelf and mirror are concealed from view and protected from dust.
To this end my invention consists in the novel arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described and more particularly pointed out in the claims.
Referring to the illustration in which the reference characters indicate the various parts of my invention as applied to a combined mirror, container and table or shelf, A is a frame having a rabbet or depression J of sufficient depth to contain the mirror B and a table or shelf D which is suitably hinged at F. The chains I or their equivalent support the table or shelf D in open position.
The container G is hinged to the mirror frame A with suitable hinges E. Within the container C are conveniently arranged drawers L and L and shelves M provided with bars K to prevent the bottles or toilet articles (not shown) from sliding ofi.
A look or latch G is provided for the container C with a catch H in the frame A.
The illustration shows my invention in operative position, the container C is unlatched at G and H, revolved to open position on hinges E and the table shelf D dropped giving full view of the mirror B.
At the right-hand side and easily accessible to the operator and within container C are the toilet or medicinal articles.
After using the cabinet, the shelf or table D is relieved of all articles (which are placed in their respective shelves M or drawers L and L and lifted into closed position against the mirror B and within plane of rabbet or depression J. The container 0 is then revolved into closed position and locked.
Attention is called to the following First. The mirror B, hinged table or shelf D and container G are arranged so that all can be used simultaneously without operation of the cabinet after the container C is in open position (as illustrated).
Second. When in closed position the toilet articles, mirror B and table or shelf D are concealed from view and protected from dust.
Third. In this invention of a sanitary cabinet, the container C is the movable part and the door A provided with a mirror B, on the innerside, is stationary. Suitable means are provided for attaching the door to a wall or support.
Fourth. The provision of a hinged table is an additional feature.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to obtain by Letters Patent is- A sanitary cabinet, comprising a stationary frame, a mirror set in said frame, a container pivotally mounted on one sideof said frame, a hinged shelf arranged below said mirror and adapted to be lifted to closed position against said mirror and means whereby said container is movable to closed position to retain said shelf in closed position and conceal said mirror.
