ADJUSTABLE ARM-SUPPORT FOR BOOK-KEEPERS.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 399,993, dated March 19, 1889.

To to whom it may concern:

Beit known that I, RUDOLPH I-IYNI'rZsoH, of Halberstadt, in the Kingdom of Prussia and German Empire, have invented a new and useful Adjustable ArrnSupport for Book- Keepers, of which the following is a specifi cation, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

My invention relates to an adjustable armsupport for book or ledger keeping, so as to give a steady support to the arm of the writer.

Figure 1 shows a top view of an adjustable 1 arm-support constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 shows the same applied to a book and ready for use, the dotted lines showing length of adjustment of which it is capable in opposite direction. Figs. 3 and 4E show a section and plan of plate I), with slot b in the under-side lip or flange thereof. f Figs. 5 and 6 show a plan and section of fork a, with band 6 (with clip 6' at the end there of) for retaining plate I) in position.

The bifurcated plate a, which is provided with a metal hoop, e, is connected with the 1 plate I) (having on its lower side a lip or flange with a slot, 1'), therein, through which the screw 19 passes) in such a manner that the plate I) will come under the metal clip or holder 6' of plate CL, while plate I) also embraces the lower edge of plate a, and the adj ustingscrew 1) passes through these to lock them in the required position. When the fork part of the support is put in the middle of a book, the required support will be given to the arm of the book-keeper either to the right or to the left side of the book.

What I claim, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent of the United States, is

The combination, in an adj ustable arm-support for book-keepers, of the bifurcated plate a, the plate I), with flange and slot I), adjustable laterally 0n the plate a, the metal hoop e, connected with the plate a, for the purpose of keeping the ,plate 0, and the screw N, to secure plate 1) against the bifurcated plate a, substantially as described.
