To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LEONARD L. IIIPES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Royal Center, in the county of Cass and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Drawer-Stops, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certaln improvements in stops for drawers generally, for instance, those of desks, bureaus, tables, and other articles of furniture, and the main object is to provide a means to prevent the complete withdrawal of a drawer from its container or casing.

Another object of the invention is to provide a stop of the class described which is adjustable so that drawers of various sizes may be used in different sized drawer openings Without danger of accidental displacement.

A further object of the invention is. to provide a stop which may be firmly attached to any drawer without mutilation or alteration'of the drawer or casin WVith these and other ob ects in view the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter described and claimed.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, in which similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of a portion of a drawer and casing showing the invention in operative relation thereto, and

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 5 indicates a drawer casing of any suitable article of furniture having a drawer 6 slidably mounted in the drawer-opening thereof. These parts are conventional. It is not necessary that the drawer exactly fit the casing as will be explained more fully hereinafter. I

The stop forming my improvement is positioned on the rear wall 7 of the drawer and has two sections 8 and 9. Section 8, which may be termed the fastening, is substantially U-shaped and is composed of material providing inherent resiliency to 1ts arms; the resiliency being increased by providing a shoulder 10 ad acent the top of one of the arms. The stop straddles the rear end walls of the drawer and is secured to the drawer by the clamping effect of the arms as they tend to move toward each other. The shoulder 10 not only increases the resiliency of the arm, but 1t forms a finger engaging portion to facilitate the re moval of the stop from the drawer.

Section 9, which serves as a stop member proper is provided with a central longitudinal elongated slot 11 permitting the adjustment of this section on the part 8. Adjustment is facilitated by a fastening element, or winged nut 12 carried by a bolt 13 secured to the member 8 and passing through the slot 11. A washer 14 may be used as shown and of course is pressed against the section 9 when the nut is tightened. By this means of adjustment the extent of adjustment can be regulated to the smallest degree. This construction also permits the stop to be lowered readily and without difliculty when it is desired to remove the drawer from the casing.

In the drawings the stop 9 is shown as of rectangular form and of equal width as the member 8, but it is to be understood that it may be of any desired shape, and may be either larger or smaller than the member 8 as the occasion demands.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A drawer stop comprising a stationary member attachable to a drawer, a movable member provided with a slot and adjustable in a plane parallel with the plane of the stationary member, and means for holding the movable member in adjustable position relative to the stationary member.

2. A drawer stop comprising a stationary member attachable to a drawer, a vertically adjustable member provided with a slot, and a means engaging the slot for holding the adjustable member in adjusted position with respect to the stationary member.

3. A drawer stop comprising a stationary member having clamping arms attachable to a drawer, an adjustable member provided with a longitudinally extending slot and adapted to engage with a drawer casing and means for holding the adjustable member in various vertical planes relative to the stationary member.
