ATTACHMENT FOB CABINETS. V
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 28, 1913.
Application filed May 27, 1912. Serial No. 699,887.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM E. AUsTIN,
. a citizen of the United States, residing at port basins of different sizes.
Fort Worth, in the county of Tarrant and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to attachments for kitchen cabinets, tables, and other articles of furniture and more particularly to a bracket for supporting water basins and the like and the object is to produce a simple and convenient device for supporting a water basin within easy reach of a table or cabinet and which is easily made and which can be easily and quickly attached to a table or cabinet or other article of furniture. One f the advantages of the bracket is that it adds very little weight to the cabinet and is adjustable so that it can be made to sup- Other objects and advanta es will be fully explained in the following escription, and the invention will be more particularly pointed in the claim.
Reference is had to the accompanying drawings which form a partof this application;
Figure l is a plan view of the bracket and brace. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, showing the brace out crosswise under one of the supporting or attaching arms and showing a water basin supported on the bracket. Fig. 3 is a section, taken on the line mzc of Fig. 2; Fig. 4 is an end elevation of a bracket which is a variation of the bracket shown in the. previous views. Fig. 5 is a plan view of the bracket shown in Fig. 4. Fig. 6 is a-siderelevation of a bracket which differs in constructionfrom the construction shown in the previous views.
Similar characters of reference are used to indicate the same several views.
The bracket herein described is preferably made of a steel rod, but the bracket can be made of different material. The bracket is preferably made of a single piece of ma terial and has a substantially circular portion 1 and arms. 2 integral therewith and which are bent at 3 and 4 for the purpose of making the arms more or less yielding and expansible. The bracket is attached to the cabinet by means of eyes 5 formed at the parts throughout the termination of the arms, screws 6 and by a brace 7 which is attached to the underside of the ledge 8 by screws 9. The ends of the arms 2 are thus rigidly attached to the cabinet by simple devices.
The support 1 may be made expansible at opposite sides. The side next to the cabinet can be expanded by placing the arms 2 in difierent grooves 10 in the brace 7. The variation shown in Figs. 4. and 5 illustrate a bracket which is expansible at opposite sides thereof.
When the bracket is made of steel, the support will be both yielding and resilient. In Figs. 4 and 5 the support 11 has a loop 12 formed therein opposite the arms 2. By
reason of the loop 12 and the opening at the opposite side from the loop 12 and vertical portions 13, the bracket is expans'ible andresilient and may be adapted for supporting basins of diflerent sizes. The bent shanks 14 make the attaching of the bracket to the cabinet practical and the shanks 14 and the brace 7 hold the bracket securely in place.
The bracket has been described as made of steel. The bracket can be made of different material of difierent designs, such as shown in Fig. 6, which may be made of wood.
What I claim, is,-
An attachment for cabinets and the like consisting of a bracket horizontally disposed and composed of a single piece of reslhent material forming two semi-circular members terminating on one side with horizontal arms and on the other side having a downwardly extended loop, and said arms terminating with downwardly extended portions at right angles to said ho-rlzontal portions, and then bent horizontally and extended to the cabinet, and parallel to each other and then "ertically downward, a brace having a plurality of recesses for receiving sald parallel arms attached to the horizontal portion f the cabinet, and screws attaching the vertical'end portions of said arms to the cabinet.
In testimony whereof, I set my hand in the presence of two witnesses, thls 18th day of May, 1912.
Y WILLIAM E. AUSTIN. Witnesses:
A. L. JACKSON, L. T. KNIGHT.
