Description

W. J. BLUNDELL.
(No Model.)
SGAFFOLD HOLDER.
Patented Oct. 16
INVENTOR k .SiMW/ML BY fuumv ATTORNEYS.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
XVILLTAM J. BLUNDELL, OF NEYV YORK, N. Y.
SCAFFOLD-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 391,111, dated October 16, 1888.
Application lilcd November-30. 1887. Serial No. 256.515. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern/.-
Be it known that I, \VILLIAM J. BLUNDELL, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Scaffold- Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 is a broken side elevation of my new scaffoldholder, and Fig. 2 illustrates the use of the holder.
The invention will first be described in connection with the drawings, and then pointed out in the claim.
My new scaffold-holder A is formed with a frame, a, at its upper end to receive the scaffold beam B, and with a hook, I), at its lower end to'e'ngage with the joist C, so that the holder serves as a tie-rod acting between the beam and joist, the beam being supported by the windowsill D.
The holder is made in two sections, the plate portions 0 c of which lap one upon the other and are held by pins (1, passing through corresponding, holes 6, of which there is a series made in each section, so that the holder may be adjusted as to length to suit the holder to the distance from the top of the window'sill to the lower edge of the joist. The pins dare connected to their respective sections by the lines or small chains d d, as shown clearly in the drawings, and the framea is connected to the upper sect-ion by a pivot or swivel,f, so that it is adapted to hold a scafi'oldbeam parallel with or at right angles to the joist C.
By constructing the holder as described it is adapted for all situations and may be adjusted to any position-that is to say, by swiveling the frame a to the section 0 it may be ap plied to the scafibldbeam 13, no matter whether it be parallel with the joist G or at any angle thereto.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The scaffoldholder herein shown and described, the same consisting of the section a, square frame a, attached to the upper end thereof by the swivelf, and the section 0', adjustably attached to the section 0 and formed with the hook I), substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
WV. J. BLUNDELL.
