MEDICINE CASE.
No. 391,055. Patented Oct. 16, 1888.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL K. LAKE, OF PITTSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
MEDICINE-CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 391,055, dated October 16, 1888.
Application filed July 14, 1888.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, SAMUEL K. LAKE, of Pittsburg,in the county of Allegheny and State ofPennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Medicine-Case; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My invention relates to an improvement in portable medicine-chests, being a new article of manufacture; and the novelty consists in the construction and arrangement of the several parts for service, as will hereinafter more fully appear, and be specifically pointed out in the claim.
This invention has specially for its object to provide a portable chest for medicine-bottles, which will, when opened up, leave the bottles standing in an upright position, the bottles being held in a secure position by means of loops or pockets.
In the accompanying drawings, which form part of my specification, Figure 1 is a top view of the chest with the lid or cover removed. Fig. 2 is a crosssection.
Referring to the drawings, A Arepresent the ends of the case, which are curved on the upper edges and are connected together by the side pieces, B B, bottom 0, and partitionwall D, all of which are clearly shown in the draw ings.
Serial No. 279,968. (No model.)
Around the inner walls of the chest are attached loops or pockets E, which are used for holding in a secure and upright position the bottles. The lid or cover G is made of one piece and is flexible, and is connected to the partition-wall D, so that either side of the lid can be raised and access to either of the chambers H and I be had and the bottles remain in an upright position.
It will be noticed that by the arrangement of the bottles in the chamber H a space is left for surgical instruments and bandages. The case is made of leather, and is provided with the usual handle,K, for carrying it, and clasps L for locking it.
Having thus described my improvement, what I claim is A medicine-chesthaving ends,a partition extending between and to the tops of the ends, sides extending partially up the ends, and a cover secured to the partition and extending over the compartments of the box formed by the partition, substantially as described and shown.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 29th day of February,A. D. 1888.
S. K. LAKE. \Vitnesses:
A. C. JOHNSTON, GEO. H. HARVEY.
