To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that we, AUGUST WIED and HENRIOH Lt RssnN, citizens of the United States, residing at Sweet Home, in the county of Lavaca and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flows; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to certain novel and Valuable improvements in combination-stocks for plows; and the nature of our invention consists in a plow-stock of peculiar construction and combination of parts, which can be used in place of several different stocks of the old construction, as will be fully understood from the following description and claims, taken in connection with the annexed drawings, in which- Figure 1 representsaperspectivcview of our improved stock having mold-boards applied to it to form a middle breaking two-horse plow. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the plow-beam and its stock, the mold-board and plow-point being removed. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the plow-point and mold-board attachment detached from the standard or foot-piece; and Fig. 4 is a side elevation of the plow, the standard or foot-piece being partly broken away to show the point and mold-board attachment.

Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates the plow-beam, and B B the handles of the plow, which may be con structed in the usual well-known manner.

0 designates a standard, is curved,as shown in the drawings, and formed with a slot, (t, ion gitudinally through it and adapted to embrace the beam A, to which it is secured by clamping-bolts b b above and below the same. This standard or foot-piece is also secured rigidly to the beam A. by means of a diagonal brace, D,which resists backward pressure and strain upon the said standard.

E indicates a land-bar, which is connected by a pivotal rivet, c, to the lower end of the standard 0 in the slot (4, and which is pivoted at d by its upturned rear end to a rod, F, the

50 screw-threaded upper end of which passes freely through the plow-beam and receives nuts 6 e on the upper and lower sides of this beam. By adjusting the nuts 6 e the rear end of the land-bar E can be raised or lowered and the pitch of the plow regulated as may be desired.

G designates the plow-point, H H right and left hand mold-boards, and J an attachmentto which the point and mold-boards are secured. This attachment J is formed with two laterally-inclined wings, g9, and two transverselyperforated lugs, h h,which latter lug, h, is received in the slot a of the standard 0 when the piece J is adjusted as shown in Figs. 1 and 4 of the annexed drawings, while the lug h is supported upon the upper edge of said standard. To this lug is secured by a rivet, f, the upper rear extension, i, of the plow-point G, the lower rear extension of which protrudes beneath the beveled lower end of the standard 0 and lies in the slot a therein.

The winged attachment J and the plow-point are firmly secured to the standard 0 by means of two transverse bolts, 7t kgone of which passes through the lug h on the rear end of the part J, and the other bolt passes through the upper rear extension, 1', of the plow-poiut G.

The mold-boards H II are suitably bolted upon the wings g g of the attachmcnt,and the front points of these boards are received beneath a rear extended shield, s, of the plowpoint, as clearly shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings.

It will be observed from the above description that our improved plow-stock can be used in place of several different stocks, and that different kinds of mold-boards or shovels can be substituted for the middle-breaker moldboards represented in the drawings; also, that every part of the stock is substantially braced without undue weight or expense.
