SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 308,383, dated November 25, 1884.
Application filed August 18, 1884. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ANTON SOHINDLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Weimar, in the county of Colorado and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Plow, of which the following is 'a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention has relation to plows; and it consists in the construction and novel arrange ment of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claims. V
Figure 1 is a View in perspective of a double-mold-board plow embodying my improvements. Fig. 2 is a view in perspective of the plow with the mold-board removed. Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal section through the beam. Fig. 4 is a bottom view of the doubleniold-board plow. Fig. 5 is a perspective View from the rear of a single-mold-board plow, its attaching-arm, bolts, and nuts; and Fig. 6 is a view of a shovel-plow.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates the plow-beam, and B B the handles,which are connected to the beam by a round, 0, that is adjustable in the beam, and is held in place by a set-screw, D, and are connected at their lower ends to an arm, E, inclined upwardly and rearwardly from the shoe of the plow. The plow-standard F consists of two curved arms pivoted to the plowbeam at their upper ends, and rigidly secured to the shoe G at their lower ends.
I An adjustable brace, H, is secured at its lower end between the curved arms of the standard F by a bolt, I, passed through an eye and secured in place by a nut. The upper end of the brace H is perforated and secured to the under face of the plow-beam by a bolt, J, which may be passed through either one of the perforations K of the brace H, as may be desired. The rear end of the beam is provided on its upper face with a threaded plate, L, which is secured in place by bolts. This plate forms the bearing for the set-screw D, which bears on the round C to hold it to its adjustment. The point of the shoe is provided with a perforation, M, for the bolt N, that secures the lower portion of the plow-point to the shoe. The double-mold-board plow O is provided with a share, P, at its point, which is secured to the under face of the double mold-board by bolts Q passed through the mold-boards and through the arms of share 1?, and held in place by nuts. The rear portion of the share P is provided with a recess, B, in its under face, the walls of which are perforated laterally at S to receive the bolt T, that secures the share P to the point of the shoe. The upper securingbolt, U, passes through the mold-board and between the curved arms of the plowstandard F, and is secured in place by a nut. By loosening the set-screw D and removing the bolt J the plow-standard may be adjusted toregulate the pitch of the plow-point.
In attaching the single-mold-board plowpoint a brace-arm, V, is employed, and is secured in place by a bolt, W, and nut X and the bolt U. The shovel-point is secured in place by the single bolt U. The point or share P of the double-mold-board plow is removable, and may be taken off when desired. This plow is used between the rows of cotton or corn, and may be taken off of the standard and either the single-mold-board plow or the shovel-plow put on in its place. By this construction and arrangement I am enabled to plow in different kinds of soil and in different crops by simply changing theplow-points andadjusting the standard to regulate the pitch of the plow.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
The combination, with the pivoted adjustable plow-standard F, of the double-moldboard plow having recessed removable share P, and the bolts for securing the share to the plow and the plow to the standard, substantially as specified.
