Moreover, this device is less expensive and is more compact and more easily transported and used.
To this end, the device employs a horizontally elongated hollow rectangular body. Leg means pivotally secured to the bottom of the body has a folded position at which it extends horizontally along the bottom and an extended position at which it extends inclinedly downward for use.
First and second L shaped means are secured by suitable means along the outside of corresponding end of the body in such manner that the horizontal legs of the members are parallel, disposed above the top of the body and extend transversely to the horizontal center line of the body. The vertical separation between horizontal leg and top of the body can be adjusted as desired.
Bracket means are secured to the horizontal legs of the members. A horizontally elongated handle parallel to the center line extends between the bracket means and detachably engages same. I
The body can have removable drawers and can be used as a tool box. With the leg means folded and the handle in place the box can be easily transported.
With the handle removed and the leg extended, the
- box serves as a saw horse. The horizontal legs of the L shaped members can be used to clamp a piece of wood in place between the top of the box and the legs in posi-' tion to be sawed'or otherwise dealt with.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to FIGS. 1-4, a hollow elongated rectangular parallelpiped box with a hinged top lid 12 can contain removable drawers 14 and other means for removably supporting saws l6 and other tools.
First and second U-shaped leg supports 18 are each pivotally secured to the bottom of the box and can be folded or collapsed thereagainst and held in this position by chains 20 or can be positioned inclinedly downwardin extended position and held therein by chains 20 and central eye loop 22.
Each support has a coplanar support bracket 24 with a central hole 26 through which an elongated horizontal bar 28 can extend as a further support for the inclined leg support. Opposite ends of bar 28 are threaded and can removably receive internally threaded sleeves 30 which can be adjusted to vary the inclination of the supports 18.
First and second L shaped members each have oppositely directed parallel horizontal legs 32 extending transversely to the longitudinal horizontal center line of the box. The vertical legs 34 of these members are secured to opposite ends of the box by brackets 26 having vertical threaded sleeves 38 engaged by the external thread of the legs. This enables the horizontal legs 32 to be raised and lowered with respect to the top of the box and, as previously described, to act as a clamp to hold wood pieces 40 in position.
The legs 34 have vertical brackets 42 with center holes 44 and the bar 28 can be disposed therethrough as a carrying handle as shown.
While I have described my invention with particular reference to the drawings, such is not to be considered as limiting its actual scope.
Having thus described this invention, what is asserted as new is:
I. A combined saw horse and tool box comprising:
a horizontally elongated hollow rectangular parallelpiped body;
leg means pivotally secured to the bottom of the body, said means having a folded position at which it extends along the bottom and an extended position at which it extends inclinedly downwards from the bottom;
first and second L shaped members;
means securing each'member along the outside of a corresponding one of the ends of the body in a position at which the horizontal legs of the members are parallel, disposed above the top of the body and extend transversely the horizontal longitudinal center line of the body, the means enabling the vertical separation between horizontal leg and top of the body to be adjusted as desired;
bracket means secured to the horizontal legs of each member; and
a horizontally elongated handle parallel to said longitudinal center line and extending between said bracket means, each end of the handle detachably engaging the corresponding bracket means.
2. The combination of claim 1 wherein said horizontal legs extend in opposite directions.
3. The combination of claim 2 wherein the leg means includes two U shaped members, pivotally secured at cross pieces to the bottom of the box in spaced positions, each U shaped member being pivotable about a horizontal line parallel to said horizontal legs of the L shaped members.
4. The combination of claim 3 werein the top surface of the box includes hinged lid.
5. The combination of claim 4 wherein said U-shaped members have coplanar support brackets with holes through which said handle can extend when the leg means are extended.
