INKSTAND.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 382,621, dated May s, laas.

To aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY A. REINHARD, of Columbus, in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lInkstands; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full,clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification. v

My invention relates to an improvement in inkstands; and it consists in the combination of a suitable base or foot, the stem which rises therefrom and forms a support for the penholder,with the revolving plate or frame upon which the inkbott1es are placed, as will be more fully described hereinafter.

The object of my invention is to provide an apparatus somewhat resembling a table-caster, and which is adapted for clerical use, and in which the bottles can be revolved freely around.

Figure l is a side elevation of an inkstand embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the revolving base-plate. Fig. 3 is a crossiseotion of the same. Fig. A is a vertical section of the pen-holder. Fig. 5 is a detached view of the stem of the pen-holder.

A represents the foot, which will be of any desired shape or size, and to which the stem B is secured at its lower end by means of the rod C and the nut D. This rod passes through the stem B, which is made tubular, and upon which the stem can be made to freely turn.

The stem is provided with a shoulder, F. At a suitable distance above the foot A, and placed upon the stem between the shoulder F and the top of the foot A, is the revolving base G, provided with a number of apertures, H', to receive the inkbottles I. Projecting from the side of the apertures are small projections J,

which form supports for the bottles, as shown in Fig.v3; also madeV in this revolving baseplate G are the oblong receptacles L, provided f' with covers, and in which small articles ofany kind may be kept. This base-plate may be rigidly secured to the stem B, or it may be made separately from the stem and made to volve with it and the base G, orit may be n made separately from the stem, just as may be preferred. As here shown, it is formed as a part of the stem, and is made to revolve therewith, so as to bring the penracks either to or awayfrom the operator, as may be desired. Above this pen-holder thestem and rod C may project any suitable distance and be surmountedby a suitable ornament of any kind. `This ornament may be attached to the` upper end of the rod C and thestem B, and

thus held between the ornament and the top ofthe foot A. A

Having thus described my invention, I claim- 1 The combination of the foot A, the stem B,

provided with ashould'er, F, the rod G, and nut D,with the revolving base G,wl1ich is held between the foot and the shoulder, and the penholder O, placed between the two parts of the stem, substantially as shown and described.
