Definitions
- ABSTRACT A device for the binding of thread on a bobbin in a ring spinning and twisting machine is disclosed in which a ring rail is associated with a plurality of spools mounted on vertical rotating spindles. Means are disclosed for reciprocating said ring rail along a vertical path in order to enable the yarn to be wound around the respective bobbin.
- the invention is characterized by feeding yarn to each bobbin from a feed roller, each feed roller being mounted on a common shaft which is driven through a suitable first transmission system from a main driving shaft.
- the reciprocal movement of the ring rail can be selectively driven by the same main driving shaft through the first transmission system which includes a first clutch device and means adapted to cause the reciprocation of the ring rail.
- a third transmission system can be connected to the said first transmission through a second clutch device in order to cause the ring rail to be moved with a speed proportional to the delivery speed of the yarns fed by the feed rollers.
- the first and second clutch devices are associated with control means which can be actuated selectively by a manually operable control device or by an automatic control device actuated automatically as the ring rail reaches its uppermost position when the binding operation is completed.
- the first and second clutch devices are so arranged that the first clutch device is in its operative position when the second clutch device is disengaged and vice-versa.
- This invention relates to a device for controlling the vertical movement in a ring rail of ring spinning and twisting machines for binding yarn on the bobbins at the end of the winding operation.
- a constant length of yarn is wound around the outer bobbin surface to bind the yarn on each bobbin irrespective of the working conditions of the machine during the winding of the yarn around each spool.
- the winding speed depends upon the count of the yarn- , i.e., the number designating the size of a yarn, and upon the degree of twist to be imparted to the yarn which has to be wound around a spool.
- a coarse yarn requires few twists per meter while a fine yarn requires a high number of twists.
- yarn having a low number of twists is delivered out of the drawing roller at a speed of 30 m/sec for instance, while yarns having a high number of twists are fed more slowly at a speed of m/sec, for instance.
- the use of the device of the invention enables the constant use of the'same length of yarn in the binding of bobbins since said device permits the synchronizing of the lowering of the ring rail with the delivery speed of the yarns coming out of the feed rollers during the binding step.
- FIG. 1 is a diagrammatic partial perspective view of a spinning frame, where only one spool is shown for clarity; and FIG. 2 is an axial section of one of the clutch devices included in the motion transmissions.
- a bobbin 1 on which yarn 10 is to be wound is fed by a feed roller 8.
- Each feed roller 8 of a spinning frame is mounted on a common shaft 8a with the bobbin 1 being mounted on a spindle 23 which rotates around the axis n-n and which is driven by known driving means not shown in the drawing. Only the operation of the bobbin 1 will be hereinafter described since the other bobbins, not shown,of the same ring spinning frame operate in the same way.
- the shaft 8a is driven by a main driving shaft 6 of a motor or other suitable driving means (not shown),
- pulley 14 mounted on said shaft 6.
- This shaft actuates pulley 14b through a belt 14a or the like.
- Said pulley 14b is secured to the shaft 140 on which is also secured pulley 14d which transmits motion through belt Me or the like to pulley 14f secured to the shaft 8a.
- the two cooperating members 7 and 7a of a clutch device are also mounted, the first of which is mounted on the shaft 6 so as to be able to slide along said shaft 6, while the other is made integral with a worm screw 11 which is meshed with a helical gear 12 secured to the shaft 13.
- Shaft 13 carries a cam 19 which cooperates with a cam follower 20 carried by a bar 21 cam follower 20 can be reciprocated along vertical guideways, not shown in the drawing, in response to the rotary movement of the cam 19 driven by the shaft 13 only if the clutch device 7,7a is in its operative position.
- Attached to the bar 21 is a chain 22 or the like, actuating a gear 17 secured to the shaft 30, on which is mounted drum 24 operatively driven by said shaft 30 through a reduction gear system 25.
- Shaft 30 and the parts connected thereto are supported on bracket 26 which is in turn mounted on the stationary frame of the spinning machine, not shown in the drawing.
- Around drum 24 can be wound and unwound the cables 18a,18b which pass around idling pulleys 31 supported by the stationary frame. In the ends of said cables l8a,18 are suspended the ring rail 2.
- the ring rail 2 performs vertical reciprocating movements during the winding of the yarns 10 depending upon the configuration of the cam 19 when the clutch device 7,7a is operative.
- the shaft 140 also carries the two members 9 and 9a of a second clutch device F IG. 2),said clutch device 9,9a being inoperative during the winding step of the spinning machine, i.e., as the first clutch device 7,7a is in operative position.
- the member 9 is connected to shaft 140 so as to be able to perform only movements parallel to its axis, while the member 9a is made integral with the hollow shaft 27 rotably mounted on an axial projection 14c of the shaft 14c.
- the shaft 27 has secured thereto a pulley 16 which is operatively connected to the pulley 29 secured on the shaft 30 through a suitable transmission system comprised of members 28 and 28f.
- the first clutch device 7,7a, as well as the second clutch device 9,9a, are associated with control devices, not shown in the drawing, which operate in synchronism to cause the clutch members 7,7a to be engaged with one other as the clutch members 9,9a are caused to be disengaged and vice versa.
- Both said control devices are selectively actuated by an automatic microswitch or by a manually operable pushbutton, not shown in the drawing.
- the microswitch is so positioned as to be automatically actuated by the ring rail 2 at the end of the winding phase of the yarn 5 on the bobbin 1 as said bobbin 1 is filled up.
- the pushbutton will be actuated by the operator when the binding of a bobbin has to be carried out on an incomplete bobbin in the event the lot of yarn is about to be exhausted.
- the shaft 8a rotates with a predetermined speed and the ring rail 2 which carries the rings 15 reciprocates along a vertical path at a different speed, the value of which depends upon the count of the treated yarn 5.
- said "ring rail 2 will be positioned at the height of the upper most section 3 of the bobbin 1.
- the final binding step which involves the wrapping of a length of yarn around the outer surface of the bobbin. This will be performed during the lowering stroke of the ring rail 2 which moves from the height of the section 3 down to the height of the lower section 4 of the bobbin 1.
- a constant length 5 of yarn has to be wound around the bobbin 1, whatever may be the count of the treated yarn 10.
- a rotatable shaft having a plurality of feedvrollers for feeding yarn thereon;
- a vertically movable ring rail having a plurality of rings for encompassing respective rotatable spools therein;
- a first clutch selectively engageable with said first transmission
- said second transmission includes a cam having a predetermined cam surface corresponding to the motion to be performed by said ring rail, a follower for moving in response to said cam and means for amplifying the movement of said follower.
