Description
' UNITEDI STATES FRANK CLEMENS,\OF LAFAYETTE, INDIANA.
HAT AND COAT RACK.
bPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 379.152. dated March 6, 1888.
Application filed August 2, 1887. Serial Nn. 245,999. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, FRANK GLEMENs, of Lafayette, in the county ot' Tippecanoe and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hat and Coat Racks, of which the followingis a full, clear. and exact specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which- The tigure shows in perspective one of my improved hat and coat racks.
The object of the invention is to provide a neat, strong, and cheap hat-rack; and the invention consists in the construction and ar rangement of parts, as will he herei nafter fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claim.
1 is asingle piece of wire .forming the back piece and bent upward twice between its ends to form the attachingarms 2 2, having eyes 3 3 at their bends, and the ends of the wire are bent forward at right angles to the arms 2 and then back upon themselves to frm the hat or coat. arms or hooks 13, the extremities of the wire being bent to form hooks'l at right angles to the back piece. These rings hear against the wall or article to which the rack is secured by screws 7, and afford great support for the end arms, 13, as well as serving as hooks upon which coats may be suspended by their snpporting-loops. The Wire is also bent at its center to form the arm 14 parallel with the arms 13.
Having thus described my invent ion. what l claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As au improved article of manufacture, a hat and coat rack formed of a single wire bent outward at its center and ends to form the arms 13 14, and upwardly between its center and ends'to form the attaching-arms 2 2, having eyes 3 3, the outer bends or sect ions of the arms 13 13 being formed at their inner ends, which are the extremities ofthe wire, with hooks l5 15 to hear against the wall or snpport and strengthen said arms and also allow of coats being suspended therefrom, substantially as set forth.
