Definitions
- ABSTRACT A can with an extensible pouring spout of plastic which is displaceable in a mouthpiece from a recessed position.
- the spout has a flange located on its upper end and is carried pendent in the can, to a pouring position projecting from the can in which it is kept by engagement of a securing part of the spout with a flat counterpiece on the mouthpiece.
- the securing part is formed by a mainly conical extension of the cylindrical side wall of the spout at the lower end of the spout, to which spout belongs a sealing plug of plastic for tight sealing of the upper open end of the spout.
- the sealing plug has a finger grip bendable thereinto and outside of circumferential projections or grooves for engagement with matching inside projections or circumferential grooves inside the spout.
- the can is particularly characterized in that dependable finger grip of the sealing plug branches oft centrally from a central, membrane-like part of the bottom of the depression of the sealing plug, a plate part over one side of the depression, in order that the upper, outermost end of the finger grip may join firmly in the sealed position of the sealing plug in such a manner that the innermost end of the finger grip presses the central, membrane-like part of the bottom down, bulging like a spherical shell and pressing, thereby, by pushed-in pouring spout, a lower edge part projecting from the lower peripheral part of the sealing plug against the cylindrical part of the pouring spout, same pressing a circumferential bulge out for tight contact against the lower edge part of the mouthpiece of the can, the projecting lower edge part of the sealing plug extending downwards in front of a circumferential bead in the pouring spout, when a projecting flange rests on the upper flange of the spout, when this upper flange is rest
- the present invention relates to a can with an extensible pouring spout of plastic, which is displaceable in a mouthpiece from a recessed position, in which the spout by means of a flange located on its upper end is carried pendent in the can, to a pouring position projecting from the can in which it is kept by engagement of a securing part of the spout with a flat counterpiece on the mouthpiece, the securing part being formed preferably by a mainly conical extension of the cylindrical side wall of the spout at the lower end of the spout, to which spout belongs a sealing plug of plastic for tight sealing of the upper open end of the spout, which sealing plug has a finger grip being bendable into the same and outside circumferential projections or grooves for engagement with matching
- Object of the invention is to provide a pouring spout with a sealing plug of the kind which is particularly easy to handle without getting into touch with the contents of the can and without getting messed up with this contents, e.g. oil, merely by pulling the finger grip of the sealing plug for extraction and opening of the pouring spout for pouring out the material from the can and merely by pressing the finger grip for pushing-in of the pouring spout and sealing of the same with the sealing plug, the whole time with tight sealing of the pouring spout against the mouthpiece of the can.
- a sealing plug of the kind which is particularly easy to handle without getting into touch with the contents of the can and without getting messed up with this contents, e.g. oil
- the bendable finger grip of the sealing plug branches off preferably centrally from a central, membrane-like part of the bottom of a depression in the sealing plug, a plate part over one side of the depression in order that the upper, outermost end of the finger grip may join firmly in the sealed position of the sealing plug in such a manner, that the innermost end of the finger grip presses the central, membrane-like part of the bottom down, bulging like a spherical segment shell and pressing thereby, by pushed-in pouring spout a lower edge part, projecting from the lower, peripheral part of the sealing plug against the cylindrical part of the pouring spout, same pressing a circumferential bulge or bead out for tight contact against the lower edge part of the mouthpiece of the can, the projecting lower edge part of the sealing plug extending downwards in front of a circumferential head in the pouring spout when the upper flange of the spout rests on the upper flange
- FIG. 1 shows part of a can with mouthpiece and with an embodiment of a pouring spout with a sealing plug according to the invention, in vertical section,
- FIG. 2 parts of same, seen from above,
- FIG. 3 same parts, but with some of them in an other position, in vertical section, and
- FIG. 4 same parts in pouring position and with removed sealing plug, in vertical section.
- a can 1 has a top plate 2 with a depression 3 with a bottom 4 with a bent part 5 with a turned down, cylindrical edge part 6 as a mouthpiece round a hole in the bottom 4.
- the edge part 6 has an outwards bent and flat counterpiece 7.
- a tube shaped part 8 of a mainly tube shaped pouring spout 9 fits roughly into the mouthpiece or the cylindrical edge part 6 and has at foot a conical extension 10 as a securing part, which by extracted spout 9 to the position shown in FIG. 3 or 4, the pouring position, wedges tightly to the mouthpiece 6, as a low, projecting lower edge part 11 of the spout 9 then forms a stop against the flat counterpiece 7 of the mouthpiece 6.
- the spout 9 has an outwards projecting flange 12 with a part 13 projecting further to one side as a pouring spout and inside beads 14 and 15.
- the bead 14 has a triangular, pawl-like cross-sectional shape and the bead 15 has a semi-circular crosssectional shape.
- a rather flat sealing plug 17 has an upwardly open cavity or depression 18 with a bottom 19, from the central dome-shaped outwardly convex membrane-like part 20 of which branches off a bendable finger grip 21 with outside pawl-like projections 22. At one side the sealing plug 17 has over the depression 18 a plate part 23 flushing with an outwards projecting flange 24 on the sealing plug. In the sealing position of the plug 17 shown in FIG. 1 the outermost end of the finger grip 21 is wedged in under the plate part 23.
- the innermost end of the finger grip 21 presses the central part 20 of the bottom 19 of the plug bulging downwards as a spherical segment, whereby an outside lower edge part 25 of the sealing plug 17 presses a circumferential bulge or bead tightly out under the flat counterpiece 7 of the mouthpiece 6, the flange 24 then resting on the flange 12, which rests on the annular part 5 of the'top plate 2 and the flange 24 and the entire plug 17 are countersunk in the depression 3 of the top plate 2.
- the sealingplug 17 may be pulled quite up from the spout 9, and the can l with the spout 9 can be tilted for instance into the position shown in FIG. 4 for pouring out the material not shown from the can.
- the spout 9 can be pressed down into the can 1 and the plug 17 be pressed down into the spout 9 and the finger grip 21 be pressed down into the depression 18 to the sealing position shown in FIG. 1.
- This may be made merely by pressing the finger grip 21, while opening may be effected merely by pulling the finger grip 21.
- Above the latter may be glued a label 27 on the top plate 2 with e.g., the following instructions: Push out the finger grip pull up plug and pouring spout pull off plug pour out material from can after pouring press pouring spout, plug and finger grip on place in sealing position.
- These operations may be made again and again without getting pouring material e.g., oil on your fingers.
- At the top part 8 of the pouring spout there is an air equalizing hole 28.
- a can comprising an extensible pouring spout of plastic, which is displaceable in a mouthpiece of the can between a recessed position, in which the spout hangs within the can from a flange located at its upper end and a pouring position projecting from the can, in which it is kept by engagement of a securing part of the spout with a flat counterpiece on the mouthpiece, the securing part being formed by a conical extension of the cylindrical side wall'of the spout at the lower end of the spout, a sealing plug of plastic for tight sealing of the upper open end of the spout, the sealing plug having a finger grip bendable thereinto and external circumferential projections or groovesfor engagement with matching internal projections or grooves in the spout, characterized in that the bendable finger grip of the sealing plug extends centrally, from a central domeshaped outwardly convex membrane-like part of the bottom of a recess of the sealing plug, a plate part extends over
