To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, WARREN BICKFORD WALDRON and GEORGE CARL BoLLER, of Folsom City, in the county of Sacramento and State of California, have invented a new and Improved Taniping-Tool, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to a novel form of tamping-tool; and it consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar figures of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a side view of our improved tamping-tool. Fig. 2 is a face view thereof. Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of the face of the tamping-head. Fig. 4 is an enlarged view of the lower end of the handle, and Fig. 5 is a plan view of the tamping-head.
In the drawings, 10 represents the handle of our tamping-tool, which is bent backward at 11 and again forward at 12, the lower end of the handle 10 being formed with a tapering projection, 13, the edges of which are inclined so that they will fit within a tapering dovetail groove, 14, that is formed in the tampinghead 15. This tamping-head 15 is preferably we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. An improved tampiug-tool consisting of a head formed with a tapering dovetailed groove and a handle provided with a tapering projection on its lower end, fitting in the groove of the said head, substantially as described.
2. The combination, with a handle formed with bends 11 and 12 and a projection, 13, having inclined edges, of a head formed with 50 a dovetail recess, within which the projection of the handle-is adapted to fit, substantially as described.
