Definitions
- ABSTRACT Apparatus for turning a tubular article such as a tie or belt inside out comprising vertical guide rods or tubes affixed adjacent their lower ends to a frame, an hydraulic cylinder being supported by the frame operating a piston rod the upper end of which is affixed to a second frame sliding on the guide rods, an open ended cylinder mounted on the first frame parallel to the hydraulic cylinder and a turning tube or rod carried by the second frame to move through the open ended cylinder with the tie or belt to turn this latter inside out after the tie or belt has been inserted over the open ended cylinder.
- SHEET 10F 2 F/e. F/e 2 DEVICE FOR TURNING TUBULAR FABRICS This invention relates to belt or neck tie turning apparatus of the kind comprising a support for insertion inside the belt or neck tie and a rod longitudinally slidable in relation to the support and of greater length than the support for pushing the closed end of the belt or neck tie through the support and turning it inside out.
- the articles are formed inside out and are then turned right side out and the object of the invention is an improved apparatus for turning the ties or belts.
- apparatus for everting a tie or belt comprises vertical guide rods or tubes affixed adjacent the lower ends to a frame, an hydraulic cylin der supported by the frame operating a piston rod the upper end of which is affixed to a second frame sliding on the guide rods, an open ended cylinder mounted on the first frame parallel to the cylinder and a turning tube or rod carried by the second frame to move through the open ended cylinder with the tie or belt to turn this latter inside out.
- FIG. I is a perspective view of the apparatus
- FIG. 2 is a side elevation of same
- FIG. 3 is a detail side elevation partly in section showing the tie or belt in position for turning;
- FIG. 4 is a similar view showing the article after turn-
- the apparatus for turning the tie or belt comprises a tubular frame composed of vertical guide rods or tubes 11 passing adjacent their lower ends through a frame 12 and aflixed by clamps 13 to a table 14.
- the rods or tubes 11 are held in position at their upper ends by supports 15 and intermediate their ends by a support 16.
- An hydraulic cylinder 17 is mounted in the frame 12 and in support 16, hydraulic fluid or air being applied alternately to each end of the cylinder 17 by pipes 18, 19 from a control box 20 operated by a button or switch 21.
- a piston 22 reciprocates in the cylinder 17 and operates a piston rod 23 connected at its upper end to a frame 24 sliding on the rods or tubes 11.
- An open ended cylinder 25 is mounted on the frames 12 parallel to the hydraulic cylinder to receive a plunger tube 26 formed with a ferrule 27 on its lower end, the tube 26 being affixed at its upper end to the frame 24. As the piston rod 23 descends the tube 26 moves downwards with the frame 24 on the rods or tubes 11, and slides through the support 16 and passes through the open ended cylinder 25.
- a downwards or belt A is placed over the cylinder 25 with its closed end over the upper end of the cylinder 25 as shown in FIG. 3 and is moved downwards through the cylinder by the tube 26 as shown in FIG. 4 to turn the tie or belt inside out.
- the tie or belt is withdrawn from the tube 26 at the lower end of the cylinder 25.
- the upper end of the cylinder 25 is rounded to we vent damage to the article.
- the cylinder 17 is preferably double acting and provided with a valve in the control box 20 connectable by line 31 to a source of compressed air.
- the belt In use the belt is slipped over the support as shown in FIG. 3. A valve in the control box 20 is then actuated to admit air or fluid into one end of the cylinder and open the other end to atmosphere and the tube 26 is moved against the end of the belt and through the cylinder together with the tie or belt. The operator then grasps the end of the tie or belt presented at the other end of the cylinder and pulls the tie or belt free from the cylinder with its seam inside. The valve is then actuated to admit air or fluid to its other end of the cylinder, the first end being open to atmosphere and the piston rod is returned pneumatically to its raised position.
- a longer tube or rod 26 may be employed than in the known manually operated apparatus, for example the stroke ma "as 20 inch'e s, the fub'o'rrodbeiiig'some 3% inches longer, allowing it to protrude 2 /2 inches from the end of the cylinder and to clear the mouth of the cylinder by half this distance; accordingly undue sucking of the tie or belt in pushing it onto the cylinder is obviated.
- Apparatus for everting a relatively long tubular fabric or like article closed at one end such as a necktie or a belt comprising means providing a stationary frame having at least two parallel coextensive guide members rigidly connected together by transverse members at opposite ends and by an intermediate transverse member disposed between those ends, means on one of said transverse end members for fixedly mounting said frame on a support, a reversible fluid pressure cylinder fixedly mounted on said frame and extending between said one transverse end member and said intermediate transverse member, a movable frame member slidably mounted on said guide members between the other of said transverse end members and said intermediate transverse member, said cylinder containing a reciprocable piston connected to a piston rod fixed at its outer end to said slidable frame member, a plunger secured at one end to said slidable frame member and extending slidably through said intermediate transverse member to terminate in an article engaging head, said piston rod and plunger being parallel to said guide members, an open ended tube fixedly mounted on said one transverse
