Abstract
513,935. Turning sewn articles inside out. COHEN, J. Nov. 8, 1938, No. 32339. [Class 112] In a device, for turning fabric belts and like articles formed as a tube seamed at one side and one end, of the kind comprising a hollow mandrel 5 over which the article is placed and a rod 14 slidable in the mandrel to carry the article down through the mandrel and turn it with the seam inside, the mandrel and turning rod are made of elliptical or oblong cross-section, so that the article is somewhat flattened, and a creasing bar 9 is fixed below the mandrel so that the article is completely flattened by drawing it round this bar. In the form shown, the rod 14 is secured to a saddle 12 sliding on a guide bar 10 fixed parallel to the mandrel 5, and is provided with a handle 17 and a raising spring 18. In order that the longitudinal seam may lie along the medial line of the belt the end seam is appropriately arranged and the raw edges of the longitudinal seam are caught in the end seam in their proper place, the article then being suitably positioned on the mandrel.
