  • the protective covering around previously known straps is realized by arranging a strip of flexible material and of suitable width around the core and interconnecting the longitudinal strip edges by a seam. Sewing together the strip in the longitudinal direction is a timeconsuming work, and however strong the material used, the resulting seam is the weakest link of the strap and breaks by far too early under the influence of the high stresses and the severe service conditions to which the strap is exposed in use.
