UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FELIX enunm, or DONALDSONVILLE, LOUISIANA.
DENTAL CABINET FDR LABORATORIES.
3PECIPICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 370,467, dated September 27, 1887.
Application filed August 5, 188i. Serial No. 210,157.
[lb all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FELIX GAUDIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Donaldsonville, in the parish of Ascension and State of Louisiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dental Cabinets for Laboratories; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to cabinets for dentists use; and the object of the invention is to structure, accommodations for the various articles and appliances employed in dentistry.
With the above objects in view the invention consists in the improved construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical section on the line a w of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a sec tion on the line 3 y of Fig. 1.
Corresponding parts in the several figures are denoted by the same letters of reference.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the frame or body of the cabinet, which is rectangular in form, and which is provided with a centrally-located space or opening, a, for the accommodation of a stool when the latter is not in use, and also adapted for the reception of other objects; and said space or opening may be provided with a curtain, if desired.
On each side of the centrally-located space or opening a are located spaces or closets b b. In the space I) is located the operating mechanism c of a dentists lathe, e, the lathe f being located on the top f of the body of the cabinet. The other space, b, is divided into an upper and lower compartment, the upper compartment being designed to receive a box, f, forholding plaster, while the lower compartment is adapted for the reception of miscellaneousarticles. Both of the compartments 1) b are closed by hinged doors f, as shown.
Under the top of the body, in the space a, are located two drawers, g 9, adapted to contain the various instruments used.
On thetop of the body of the cabinet, at each (No model.)
end thereof, is formed a compartment, 5; g", which compartments are fitted with hinged lids or covers 9*. The compartmentg is occupicd by thelathe, and is provided with a partitioned space, 9 for the reception of wheels andcones to be used in connection with the lathe. The other compartment is adapted to contain various instruments-such as articulators, a spatula, bolts, and a wrench, and also a can or cup for mixing the plaster in. As the compartments are covered by lids, their contents are protected from dust and dirt and the cabinet made attractive in appearance.
On the top of the body between the. compartments g is located near the rear edge of the top a cupboard, h, thus leaving a space or table, h. The cupboard h is provided with hinged doors if, by which it is closed, and is subdivided into a series of shelves and compartments and drawers for jars and bottles, rubber, teeth, impression-cups, and wax, and the like, and the compartments are adapted for the reception of the vulcanizer, celluloid apparatus, or alcohol-can, lamp, and flask.
By the arrangement before described it will be seen that all theiustruments and appliances employed in the practiceof dentistry are con veniently provided for, so that access to them may be readily had, and at the same time they are preserved from dust and dirt and hid from view. The cabinet may be used in the operating-room, and is an ornament to the same.
0 represents a filing-board, and D represents a drawer or board arranged directly below the same and adapted to be drawn out to catch so much of the filings as drop from the board 0.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- 1. In a dental cabinet, the combination, with the compartment 1), disposed under the table 72. and provided with a hinged door, and with the compartment g,'located above the table and having the partitions g and the hinged lid of the dentists lathe f, projecting into the compartment 9" and operated by mechanism in the lower compartment, b, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. Thehereiudescribed dental cabinet, comprising the body formed with a central space, a, and with compartments (Z d at each side the latter, and with a compartment located over the space a and between the side compartments and comprising a filing-board, O, and
drawer D, arranged directly below the same,
5 and drawers 9 g at each side the filing-board,
substantially as set forth.
3. The dental cabinet herein described, comprising the top compartments, g y, arranged at each side and provided with the hinged 1o lids, the table h, formed between the said compartments and in rear of the table and provided with the hinged doors h and drawers and shelves, substantially as set forth.
4:. In a dental cabinet, the combination, with
