Primary Examiner-Patrick D. Lawson Attorney-Wenderoth, Lind & Ponack ABSTRACT Non-slip safety sole clampons comprising a sole or base board that is detachably fixable to the underside of each boot, a number of generally hemispherical bulges being integrally formed in a predetermined arrangement on the underside of said base board, screw holes being formed through said bulges, screws being screwed therethrough from the upper surface of the base board so that the ends of said screws may protrude through the bulges to constitute claws or spikes.

The accompanying drawing shows one of the preferred embodiments of this invention, of which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a clampon according to this invention;
FIG. 2 is a fragmentary longitudinal cross sectional view taken through the sole and some of the claws in FIG. 1; and
FIG. 3 is a side-elevational view of a screw-type spike or claw.
In the drawing, the numeral 11 designates a sole or base board of the clampons detachably fixed to the underside of each boot. On the underside of the base board 11 and preferably integrally therewith are formed a number of generally hemispherical bulges 12 in a predetermined arrangement, screw holes 13 being bored through said bulges l2, screws 14 being screwed into said screw holes 13 from the upper surface of the base board 11 so that the ends of said screws 14 may protrude from the underside of said bulges 12 to serve as the spikes or claws.
If a screw 14 having a greatly protruding thread 16 as shown in FIG. 3 is used, such thread displays an excellent slip preventive effect even after the very tip end of the screw has been worn out. Moreover, in the upper surface of the base board 11 opposite from where the bulges 12 are formed therebeneath, there are formed recesses 17 into which the heads of the screws 14 are fitted, as a result of which the upper surface of the base board 1 l is maintained in a generally smooth state even when the screws 14 are screwed into the base board 1 1.
The numeral 18 designates a pair of protrusions jointly formed on both lateral edges of the base board ,1], a boot tightening belt 20 being passed through an elongated hole 19 provided in each of said protrusions 18.
Synthetic resin molded base boards 11 are suitable for mass production and enable the clampons to be produced at a low price.
The clampons of this invention, consisting of the construction as described hereinbefore, are used by fixing the base boards 11 to the underside of the boots by means of the belts 20. On the underside of each base board 11 are formed a number of bulges 12 in a required or predetermined arrangement, the ends 15 of the screws 14 protruding from the bulges 12, said ends 15 constituting slip preventive claws.
Even when the ends 15 of thescrews 14 become worn out or broken off, the clampons can be used again by removing the screws 14 from the upper surface of the base board 11, and by screwing new screws 11 into the screw holes 13 bored through the bulges 12 of the base board 11 so that the ends 15 thereof will protrude therefrom.
e supply of such replaceable screws 14 which are also suitable for mass production enables to render the life of the clampons longer by the use of the same base boards for a long period of time. Furthermore, since the great radial protrusion of the thread of the screw 14 has an excellent slip preventive effect, said effect is not lost even when the extreme ends of the screws 14 have been worn out.
What is claimed is:
l. Non-slip safety sole clampons for attachment to the feet of wearers, each safety sole clampon comprising, in combination, a sole or base board having a plurality of generally hemispherical bulges formed on and projecting from the underside thereof in a predetermined arrangement, said bulges having screw-receiving holes formed through said bulges transversely to the plane of said baseboard, replaceable screws having pointed ends disposed in each of said screw-receiving holes with the pointed end projecting from the lower side of said base board and bulges, said screws having a radially pronounced greatly protruding thread of which a portion thereof advantageously projects beneath said bulges, and means for detachably attaching said clampons to the feet of wearers.
