' shoes.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a golf overshoe which may be quickly and easily placed over the golfers spiked shoe and will require a minimum of time to place it over the shoe of the golfer as well as requiring a minimum of time to remove the overshoe from p the spiked golf shoe.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a golf overshoe bearing the above objects in mind which is of 7 simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is
inexpensive to manufacture and efficient in operation and use.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of a golf overshoe comprising the present invention;
FIGURE 2 is a perspective view showing a modified form of the invention.
Referring now more in detail to the drawing, a golf overshoe 10 made in accordance with the present invention is shown to include a tough sole member 12 and a 1 heel member 14 which are molded in a one-piece construction with a continuous wall 16. Continuous wall 16 encompasses the golfers spiked shoe, and wall 16 is provided with a pair of extending straps 18 and 18' on one side and provided with a pair of extending straps 20 and 20 on the other side which serve to strap over the heel and toe of the golfer's spike shoe. Straps 18 and 18 are provided with a buckle 22 and 22' respectively,
and straps 20 and 20' are provided with a plurality of spaced apart openings 24 and 24 respectively. Thus, the straps 20 and 20' are received within buckles 22 and 22' respectively.
In use, the golfer places his spike shoe which he is wearing within the confined walls 16 of overshoe 10 and proceeds to fasten straps 18, 18' with the appropriate opposite straps 24 and 24.
It shall be apparent that the spikes of the golfers shoe are prevented from scratching or damaging the flooring or carpeting by engaging with the sole 12 which is tough enough to resist puncturing by the spikes of the golf shoe.
It shall be further understood that a variety of designs may be incorporated along the exterior surfaces of golf overshoe 10 to impart additional attractiveness to golf overshoes 10.
A modified form of golf overshoe 26 is shown to include a sole 28 intersecting with a heel 30. Sole 28, heel 30 and wall 32 are of one piece construction and wall 32 is provided with extending lips 34 for engagement over the toe area of the spiked golf shoe. Extending lips 34 are provided with a plurality of spaced apart grommets 36 with a lace 37, thus providing a means for securing the extending lips 34 over the toe area of the golfers spiked shoe when it is received within golf overshoe 26. A heel area strap 38 extending from wall 32 is provided with a buckle 40 which is provided for receiving an extended strap 42 on the opposite side of wall 32. Strap 42 is provided with a plurality of spaced apart openings 44 providing adjustment means for the heel area of golf overshoe 26. Golf overshoe 26 is received over the spiked golf shoe of the golfer in the well known manner and the lace 37 is pulled to suitable tightness and is then tied in a bow. Strap 42 is received within buckle 40 of strap 38 and adjusted to the desired tightness by means of the openings 44.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claim.
What I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:
A golf overshoe comprising in combination a continuous side wall, sole, heel, a center raised arch between the opposite longitudinal ends of said sole, a pair of front straps and a pair of rear straps providing means for securing said overshoe to a spiked golf shoe worn by a golfer to prevent injury to floors and carpeting, the heel of said over-shoe containing a downward recess within said heel to accommodate the heel portion of said spiked golf shoe, a buckle being secured by suitable fastening means to a rear strap, and another opposing strap of said overshoe being provided with a plurality of openings for adjustable engagement with said buckle to accommodate the tightness across the instep of the foot of the golfer, said front straps having buckle means and forcing the tension of said straps across the toe area of the golfers spiked shoe, said wall of said overshoe encasing the side region of said spiked golf shoe and said overshoe being molded from resilient material which is of the same and equal thickness throughout.
