UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILSON P. DODSON, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALE TO JOHN LITTLE, OF SAME PLAoE.
ATTACHMENT FOR lR ONlNG-TABLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 364,580, dated June 7, 1887.
Application filed August 13, 1886.
I To all whom it may concern:
Being it known that I, WILSON P. DODSON,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia. and 5 State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Attachments for Ironing-Tables, of which the following is a specification. My invention consists in the combination with a bracket having longitudinal cheeks upon its sides andprovided with a central pin, which is attached by screws to the under side of an ironing-table or skirt-board and a slotted casting loosely journaled on the central pin of I 5 the bracket, and to which the slotted leg or support of the outer endof the table is secured upon its upper end by means of a pair of rivets or equivalent fastening, the opposite end of the table to which the device is attached being secured to a standing table or to a shelf or projection from the wall of a room, as may suit convenience, by means of a clamp.
The object for which the invention is designed is to construct a device which can be attached to tables or boards now in use, and the slot-ted casting and connected leg of which can'be readily turned to assume a parallel line with the table in the same horizontal plane, to permit of the placing thereon of a garment, and returned to its vertical position as a support for said table, as more fully hereinafter described. v V
In the accompanying drawings, which make a part of this specification, Figure 1 is an edge elevation of my improvement attached to a table and connected to a standing table by means of a clamp upon its rear end. Fig. 2 is an edge view of the table A, with the leg D folded beneath in the same horizontal plane.
40 Fig. 3 is a view of the under surface of the table, with the leg in same position as in Fig.
Serial No. 210,843. (No model.)
by means of the clamp B, readily adjustable 5o thereon.
O is a bracket connected to the under surface of the table A by means of screws or rivets a. The bracket has the cheeks b projected downward from each edge, through which the 5 bolt d passes, and held by means of the nut e.
E isa metallic casting, (seen in detail in Figs. 5, 6, and 7,) that is secured upon the upper end of the leg D by means of the pair of bolts or rivets g, and whichis provided with the longi- 6o tudinal slot i, equal in width to the diameter of the bolt d. The leg D is preferably formed of wood, and has the longitudinal slot i formed therein as a continuation of the slot 6 of the casting E, the slot 1? z" of the casting and con 6 5 nected leg being of Sufficient length to permit of the leg as an entirety being turned onefourth around upon the bolt d from the position seen in Fig. l to that shown in Figs. 2, 3, and 4, to allowof the passage of a garment 7o desired to be placed upon the board and the return of the leg to its vertical position.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The leg for an ironing-table, composed of 7 the pieces D and E, and provided with the longitudinal slot i z", in combination with a bracket having a journal, d, attached to the under surface of said table, substantially in the manner herein shown and described.
