Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a test dyeing apparatus for dyeing a test piece such as a piece of fabric material.
  • FIG. 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of the test dye ing apparatus embodying the present invention
  • FIG. 2 is a sectional view taken along line '1III in FIG. 1;
  • FIG. 3 is a sectional view taken along line III-III in FIG. 1;
  • FIGS. 4A and 4B are front and side views, respectively, of a hollow drum in which a closed tubular dyeing tank is supported at its center;
  • FIGS. 5A and 5B are front and side views, respectively, of a hollow drum in which tubular dyeing tanks are supported at their both ends.
  • the test dyeing apparatus comprises a frame 1 and a tank 2 mounted on said frame and containing liquid heating medium 3.
  • the tank 2 has heating tubes 4 arranged near the bottom thereof to heat the liquid heating medium 3.
  • a plurality of driving rolls 6, each of which has guide ribs 5 thereon at desired distances along its length, are
  • a motor 9 is mounted on the frame 1 outside of said tank 2.
  • the motor 9 is connected to the respective rotary shafts 8 through chains 11, which engage over sprockets 10'fixed to the ends of said rotary shafts 8 and a sprocket 12 fixed to the rotary shaft of said motor 9, in order to rotate the respective driving rolls 6 in the direction as indicated by arrows in FIG. 3.
  • Hollow drums 14 of relatively large diameter having peripheral openings 13 at the central portion thereof, are put on respective pairs of the adjacent driving rolls 6 and held in tangential contact therewith so that the hollow drums are driven by the driving rolls.
  • the hollow drum 14 adjustably supports a tubular dyeing tank 15, which contains a test piece of fabric or the like material and dyeing solution and which can be tightly closed by a cap 15".
  • FIGS. 4A and 4B show a preferred form of the hollow drum 14, in which a pair of supports 19' are arranged in diametrically opposite relationship and a holder 18 is rotatably supported at its both ends .by said supports 19.
  • the holder 18 has cylindrical portions 16 for receiving and holding the tubular dyeing tanks 15, each of said portions 16 having an L-shaped notch 17 for receiving a projection 15' of the tank 15 to fixedly hold the tank therein.
  • the tubular dyeing tank 15 is adjustably supported in the hollow drum 14 so that a longitudinal axis B-B of the dyeing tank 15 may be set at a desired angle a relative to a rotating axis A-A' of the hollow drum 14, as shown in FIG. 4B.
  • FIGS. SAand B show a modified form of the hollow drum 14, in which a pair of supports 19 are fixed in diametrically opposite relationship, and a yoke 18' is pivotally supported by said supports 19.
  • the yoke 18' has opposite walls 20, one of which has brackets 22 for supporting pins 21 projecting at the sides of the dyeing tank 15 near the lower end thereof and the other of which has a resilient support 23 for supporting the upper end of said dyeing tank.
  • tubular dyeing tank 15 is held in the yoke 20 by the brackets 22 and the resilient support 23, said yoke 18' being adjustably supported in the hollow drum 14 so that a longitudinal axis B-B of the dyeing tank may be set at a desired angle at relatively to a rotating axis A-A' of the hollow drum 14, as shown in FIG. 5B.
  • a test piece of fabric material is placed in the tubular dyeing tank 15 and then dyeing solution is charged into said tank so as to fill about one to two thirds of the volume of the tank.
  • the tank is tightly closed b the cap 15" and fixedly mounted in the hollow drum 14 at the desired angle at the supports 19.
  • the heating medium 3 contained in the tank 2 is heated to the desired temperature by steam or the like medium passing through the heating tubes 4, and the driving rolls 6 are driven by the motor 9 through the sprocket 12, the chains 11, the sprockets 10 and the rotary shafts 8.
  • the hollow drums 14, in which the tubular dyeing tanks 15 are fixedly mounted, are put on the respective pairs of the adjacent driving rolls 6 along the guide ribs 5 from the upside of said tank 2 and held in tangential contact therewith by the weight of the hollow drums so that the hollow drums 14 are driven by the driving rolls 6.
  • the tubular dyeing tanks 15 are rotated by the hollow drums 14, so that the test pieces of fabric material contained in the dyeing tanks 15 are dyed by the dyeing solution at the elevated temperature in the uniform manner owing to the agitation of the dyeing solution in the tank.
  • the hollow drums 14 supporting said tank 15 may be easily put on or removed from the driving rolls 6, without stopping the operation of the remaining hollow dru-ms.
  • the hollow drums are simply put on the driving rolls and held in contact therewith by the weight of the hollow drums themselves and the tubular dyeing tanks, which contains the test pieces of fabric material and can be tightly closed, are removably mounted in said hollow drums at the desired angle relatively to the rotating axis of the hollow drums.
  • the test pieces can be very effectively and uniformly dyed by the dyeing solution with minimum manual operation after they have been paced in the respective dyeing tanks, and any of the dyeing tanks can be separately placed into or taken out of the apparatus, as desired, without stopping the operation of the apparatus.
  • high pressure dyeing can be easily carried out by the tubular dyeing tank according to the present invention.
  • the superior test dyeing can be carried out because the dyeing solution does not evaporate during the dyeing process.
  • Test dyeing apparatus comprising a frame, at least two driving rolls rotatably supported on said frame in a horizontal plane in parallel relationship at suitable distances, means for driving said driving rolls, hollow drums each adapted to be put on a pair of the adjacent driving rolls and held in tangential contact therewith so as to be driven thereby and tubular dyeing tanks for containing dyeing solution and material to be dyed, means for adjustably supporting each of said tubular dyeing tanks in said hollow drum so that the former may be set at a desired angle relatively to the latter.
  • each hollow drum has a pair of support means disposed in said drum in diametrically opposite relationship and a holder rotatably supported at its both ends by said support means, said holder having cylindrical portions for receiving and supporting the tubular dyeing tanks.
  • each hollow drum has a pair of support means disposed in said drum in diametrically opposite relationship and a yoke pivotally supported by said support means, said yoke removably supporting the both ends of the tubular dyeing tank.
  • Test dyeing apparatus comprising a frame, a tank mounted on said frame and containing liquid heating medium, heating means for heating said liquid medium, at least two driving rolls rotatably supported in said tank in a horizontal plane in parallel relationship at suitable distances, means for driving said driving rolls, hollow drums each adapted to be put on a pair of the adjacent driving rolls in said tank and held in tangential contact therewith so as to be driven thereby and tubular dyeing tanks for containing dyeing solution and material to be dyed, means for adjustably supporting each of said tubular dyeing tanks in said hollow drum so that the former may be set at a desired angle relatively to the latter.
