PLAQUE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 356,454, dated January '25, 1887.
Application filed September 30, 1886. Serial No. 214,910. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANKLIN DAMMON,
a citizen of the United States, residing at New Bedford, in the county of Bristol and State of 5 Massachusetts, have invented a new and novel Device in Plaques, ot'lwhich the following is a specification. I
My invention consists in the combination, with a plaque, of a shell, as a novel ornamentation, and also as a cover or protectionto a picture mounted on said plaque.
In the accompanying drawing, A is a plaque or card on which is mounted the shell B. When used for ornamentation only, there may be a I 5 number of shells attached to the plaque, ac-
cording as taste or fancy may dictate. \Vhen used as a cover or protection for a picture, the shell is mounted on the plaque in the manner illustrated in the drawing, being hinged to the plaque A by the hinge O, composed of cloth 20 or other suitable material, one end of which hinge is concealed by the bow of ribbon d and the other end attached to the shell. The picture is mounted on the space covered by the shell.
By the use of a shell, in combination with a plaque, a new and beautiful efiect is produced.

The combination, with a plaque, of a shell, as a cover or protection to a picture mounted on said plaque.
