This does not secure smooth (stepless) and accurate adjustment. Y
Object of the present invention is to provide a lifting turntable that would provide for smooth and'a'ccurate adjustment of the tundish as to its height over the mould.
The mechanism allowing adjusting displacement of the table with respect to the piston can be designed in the form of a screw pair, whose screw is fixed at one end in the piston of the hydraulic cylinder, and at the other end in a threaded hole made in the table cover.
The nature of the present invention will become more fully apparent from a consideration of the'following description of its exemplary embodiment taken in conjunction with a drawing representing the lifting turntable, according to the invention in a longitudinal section.
Table l with tundishes 2 is mounted on column 3 fixed on frame 4. Turning of the table with the tundishes is effected with the aid of a drive 5 made in the form of a worm reductor 6 whose wheel is connected to the table through splined joint 7. The table is lifted by a hydraulic cylinder whose piston 8 is mounted in bore 9 of column 3. Table 1 has cover l0 with a threaded hole wherein adjustment screw 11 is fixed. The other end of the screw is fixed in piston 8, and through step bearing 12 it rests on bearing 13.
To limit the lift of piston 8 cap 14 is placed on column 3. when power fluid is supplied into the hydraulic cylinder in .the direction shown by arrow 'A". piston 8 with screw ll raises, thus lifting the table I with tundishes 2.
The height of the cast metal flow must be adjusted for different methods of metal casting, as well as for different grades of cast metal. The flow height in the proposed table design is with respect to piston 8. a v
The proposed design of the lifting turntable ensures smooth and accurate setting of the tundish over the mould in the bottom operating position, which is of particular importance for the latest methods, of metal casting, for instance, those using air-tightening arrangements.
We claim:
l. A lifting turntable to mount tundishes in continuous metal casting machines comprising: a supporting frame; a column fixed on said frame; a table with tundishes mounted on said column; rotative means operatively associated with said table to rotate said table with tundishes relative to said column; central portions of said column defining a cylinder; a piston slidingly supported within said cylinder; hydraulic means operatively associated with said piston to move said piston with said cylinder; connecting means joining said piston to a portion of said table whereby said table is moved in response to movement of said piston within said cylinder; said connecting means including screw adjusting means operatively associated at one end with said piston and at its other end with said portion of said table to cause movement of said table relative to said piston by rotation of said screw means and thereby permit accurate positioning of the tundishes.
2. A lifting turntable as claimed in claim 1 wherein said one end of said screw adjusting means is secured to one end of said piston by rotatable bearing means and the other end of said tion of said table.

Claims (2)

2. A lifting turntable as claimed in claim 1 wherein said one end of said screw adjusting means is secured to one end of said piston by rotatable bearing means and the other end of said screw adjusting means is threadably engaged through said portion of said table.
