BIB OR APRON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 352,471, dated November 9, 1886.
Application tiled August 23, 1886. Serial No. 2ll,675. (No model.)
K ro and aprons worn by children and working Girls. b My invention consists in combining the material composing a bib or apron with aframe which gives shape to and supports the same, 15 in the manner herein described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure l is a rear elevation of my improved bib. Fig. 2 is aside elevation of the same. Fig. 3 isarear elevation of the frame supporting the upper portion of 2o the bib. Fig. 4 is aside elevation ofthe same.'
In Fig. l, A represents the body of the bib, which may be of any desired material and suitable form, having shoulder-straps b b,extending over the shoulders and down the back to 2 5 the waist, and waist-straps a c, which extend backward from the body A in the manner of a belt, andere joined to thelower ends of the shoulder'straps b b, in any suitable manner, at x.
A su pporting-frame, made preferably of wire, is shown in dotted lines in Fig. l, to which the upper portions of thebib are suitably attached. This frame (see Fig. 3) is composed of a front horizontal bar, c', at that part of the in front, having right-angle continuations c cf, rising vertically to pass over the shoulder, curved to fit the shoulder, as seen in Fig. 4, and extending downward vertically in parallel bars c c to the waist-line, the curved portions of said frame c c being made fiat, so that it will more readily and easily accommodate itself to the conformation of the shoulder. This frame is intended to be made of any size necessary to adapt it to the person, and of 45 such material as to allow of its being easily bent or shaped to conform to the person. The fabric composing thex bib, after being cut to the requisite shape and dimensions, is secured to the frame by stitching or otherwise, either in a manner to attach it ,rigidly to the supporting-frame or so that the frame may be readily removed.
Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A bib or apron composed of the body A, provided with shoulder-straps?) @waist-straps a a, in combination with the framesupport c c c c" c, constructed and operating in the imanner and for the purpose hereinv set forth and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
