UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
ENOOH COVERT, OF FARMER VILLAGE, NE\V YORK.
COMBINED GAG-RUNNER AND ROSETTE-FASTENING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 350,043, dated September 28, 1886.
Application llled June 2, 1886. Serial No. 203.948. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be itknown that I, Esoon COVERT, acitizcn of the United States, residing at Farmer Village, in the county of Seneca and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Gag-Runner and Rosette-Fastening, of which the following is aspecification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to rosette-holders and gag-runners for bridlcs, and the object I have in view is to combine the two in such a manner upon a single plate as to make a cheap, durable, and efficient device for both purposes.
In the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification, Figure 1 represents a side view, and Fig. 2 a plan view, of my invention.
In the figures, A represents a plate, upon one side of which is a gag-runner loop, B, and upon the other a loop, (1, for the purpose of securing a rosette to the bridle. The plate A may be secured to the crown-piece of the bridle either by a rivet or screw, or by a hook at its upper end. The loop 0 passes through an opening in a rosette, and is there connected by the brow-band to the crown-picce D in the usual manner.
d represents a rosette secured in place.
The check-rein passes direct from the rings in either a check or common bridlebit to the gag-runner loop or thence back to check-hook on the saddle of the harness.
By the use of this device the benefits of an over-draw check are accomplished and with as much case and comfort to the horse as in the ordinary way of checking, and the foretop and mane are not disarranged. The loop B may be disconnected from the plate A, as shown at the upper part, so that the check'rein may be placed therein from above, it so desired.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A combined gagrunner and rosctte-histening consisting of a plate, A, having a gagloop runner at one side, and a loop, on the opposite side adapted to pass through an open ing in therosette and crown-piece, and be connected by the brow-band, so as to secure the whole together, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I a'l'iix' my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ENOOH. COVERT.
