This cannot always be easily realized, as the depth of the one pocket often strongly deviates of that of another one.
  • a breastpocket handkerchief contains a certain quantity of material with a relatively shallow pocket, a certain quantity of material has to be put into that pocket, owing to which the pocket can become bulging while it becomes more difiicult to make the upper part of the breastpocket handkerchief protrude out of the pocket in a correct way.
  • the breastpocket handkerchief When the breastpocket handkerchief must be positioned in a relatively deep pocket the danger is present that the breastpocket handkerchief sinks away in it and does not protrude over a certain distance over the rim of the pocket. Therewith it is always diflicult to fold the upper part of the breastpocket handkerchief correctly.
  • the invention now removes these difiiculties by providing a breastpocket handkerchief which is characterized in that it has been fixed to a support plate in the folded up condition and that means are present to change the distance between the lower part of the support plate and the upper point of the breast pocket handkerchief, so that the total length of the whole can be adapted to the depth of the pocket in which the breastpocket handkerchief is worn.
  • the support plate now consists of two parts, one part of which being fixedly arranged-in the breastpocket handkerchief and the second part being shiftable with respect to the first part, such, that the lower rim of the shiftable part protrudes over a certain distance under the lower rim of the first part.
  • the upper part of the breastpocket handkerchief must be as large as possible.
  • the two parts of the support plate are kept in a certain position with respect to each other by the frictional power between the mutual parts and between the replaceable part and the material of the breastpocket handkerchief.
  • Said frictional powers sometimes can be insufiicient, e.g. when using easily slidable materials, for keeping the breastpocket handkerchief constant in the correct position.
  • the invention provides herein in that the rims of the slot in the shiftable part of the support plate running in longitudinal direction, are notchedly executed.
  • the material of the support plate is somewhat flexible, the plate can easily be shifted by hand, while the power, necessary for said shifting, is large enough for preventing an undesired shiftment during wearing.
  • the support plate will have been made of a somewhat flexible, boiling-, launderingand ironing-durable material.
  • the breastpocket handkerchief then needs not to be loosened from the support plate, but the whole can be washed when the breastpocket handkerchief 'has become dirty whereby boiling out can take place, if necessary, and the breastpocket handkerchief can be ironed too. It is clear that the breastpocket handkerchief can also be made of a no-iron material.

  • the breastpocket handkerchief 1 shown in the drawing has been folded such, that the front side has been composed out of the layers of material 1a and 1b, which have been folded down at one of the longitudinal sides to the layers 1c and 1a, lying at the back side, whereas the other longitudinal side has been folded back to the layers 1e and 1 lying at the back side and on the layers 10 and 1d.
  • the support plate has been positioned, that has been composed of the permanent part 2 and the shiftable part 3.
  • the slot 4 is present, through which the rivet 5 runs, which keeps the construction of breastpocket handkerchief 1 and the plates 2 and 3 together.
  • Rivet 5 can also be replaced by another fastening element, which if necessary can be loosable.
  • the rivet .5 is permanent so that the breastpocket handkerchief always remains correctly folded and the whole has been made of such materials, that the construction, without loosening the connecting element 5, can be washed.
  • the plates 2 and 3 then preferably consist of a synthetic material that is boiling-, launderingand ironing durable.
  • the plates 2 and 3 are of a somewhat flexible material so that the Whole of the breastpocket handkerchief can adapt itself to the model of the pocket.
  • the breastpocket handkerchief shown in the drawing is provided with a point extending upwardly, it will be clear that the upper rim can also be fiat or can have any other shape, while also the number of layers into which the breastpocket handkerchief is folded does not play a part in itself. Other changes can also be made without falling outside the inventive idea.
  • Breastpocket handkerchief assembly comprising a flat supporting means having a lower edge, a breastpocket handkerchief folded about said supporting means and having an open end for passage of said lower edge of said supporting means therethrough, for a selected distance, said supporting means being relatively rigid with respect to said breastpocket handkerchief, fastening means retaining the breastpocket handkerchief in the folded condition and fixing it with respect to the supporting means, said supporting means having adjusting means for adjusting the distance between said lower edge of said supporting means and said breastpocket handkerchief, thr ugh said open end of said wrapped handkerchief.
  • said support means comprises two plates, one of which is fixedly counted in said breastpocket handkerchief and the second plate being shiftable with respect to said first plate, such that the lower edge of said shiftable plate depends over an adjustable distance below the underside of the breastpocket handkerchief.
  • breastpocket handkerchief assembly according to claim 2, in which said breastpocket handkerchief is secured to said first plate by means of a fastening element, and including a vertical slot in said second plate, said element also passing through the vertical slot in said second plate.
