UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROBERT A. REGESTER, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
BATH-BOILER STAND.
EPECIPICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 348,690, dated September 7, 1886.
Application filed September 25), 1884. Serial No. 144,296. (No model.)
T0 to whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, ROBERT A. REeEsTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bath-Boiler Stands, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to improvements in boiler-stands, and the object of which is to provide means to securely hold the stand when adjusted, whereby the same may be conveniently put together and cheaply made and the height adjusted as required. I accomplish this by means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in whicl Figure 1 is a side view showing the stand in section; Fig. 2, a top view of the yoked screw; Fig. 3, an under view of the outside screw; Fig. 4, an under view of the ring in which the boiler sets; Fig. 5, a top view of the base-plate with the screw removed; Fig. 6, a part under view of the baseplate showing the incline surfaces 9", and Fig. 7 a top view of the nut 71.
Similarlcttcrs refer to si milar parts th roughout the several views.
The boiler A is supported on the cylindrical ring Z), which is provided with lugs a, to which the yoke c is attached, by which construction pipe-connections can be made with the. center of the lower head of the boiler. The yoke c is cast integral with the inner screw, (1, which fits in the corresponding outer screw, 0, the outer screw, 6, being attached to the base platef by projecting lugs g,
which fit in the notches g of the base-plate,
and when placed therein is partly turned around until the lugs 9 come in contact with incline surfaces 9*, cast on the inner side of the base, which draw the two together, and firmly hold the same by the projection 6 coming in contact with the base-platef.
On the screw displaced a jam-nut, h,which, when the boiler is adjusted to the desired height, is screwed down and jammed against the screw 0, thereby holding the screws firmly together, which results in the device being rigid.
In placing the boiler in position the same is set to suit the pipes, which greatly facilitates the making of connections, &c., and the stand adjusted accordingly by turning the screw d in or out, (as the case may require,) and when set to the desired place is securely held there by jamming the nut h, as before stated.
By my device the boiler may be placed at any height and the stand adjusted to suit the same, which greatly facilitates placing the boiler, making pipeconnections fewer and less troublesome, thereby resulting in convenience, saving of time and labor, and requiring less stock by the dealer. as the same may be ad justed to suit any desired height.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a bath-boiler stand, the combination of the top plate, 1), arranged to support aboiler and cut away at its central portion to permit pipe-conncctions with the bottom of such boiler, the base-plate f, and the screws d and 0; one secured to the top plate and the other to the base, for the purpose set forth.
2. In a bath-boiler stand, the combination of the basef, the screws 11 and e, the yoke c, and the cylindrical ring b,through which pipeconnections can be had with the bottom of a boiler, as herein specified.
In testimony whereofI affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ROBERT A. REGESTER.
