SUPPORTNG-PEIDESTAL FOR CASH-REGISTERS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. T17, 191W.
Application led October 15, 1915. Serial No. 56,162.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it lrnown that I, PAUL Dn CHIME, a
' subject of the King of Italy, residing at Youngstown, in the county of Mahoning and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Supporting- Pedestals, of which the following are the specifications.
My invention relates to supporting pedestals `for safe desk, cash register and other articles of otce equipment, and has for its primary object the providing of a pedestal so constructed that the base end can be fastened to the floor from the inside of the pedestal in such a manner that the object so mounted upon the pedestal cannot be removed from its place without first having a forked tool, with opposite points to engage the holes (it), to be used for turning this nut, in order to obtain access to the tastening or anchoring means, or threaded end of the rod. Vlfith these and other objects in view, which will readily appear as the nature ot the device is understood, the same consists ot a novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter illustrated, described and claimed.
ln drawings, Figure l is a front elevation, showing a sate mounted upon the pedestal. F ig. 2 is a vertical section view through the center of the pedestal; and F ig. 3 is a detail view showing the various parts in disassembled relation.
Similar reference characters designate dilerent parts of the device throughout the various figures of the drawings. R represents an anchoring rod provided at its lower end with the screw-threaded terminal or point (P) designed to be screwed into the loor, as shown in F ig. 3 of the drawings, and also provided with the toot-piece or brace through which the screw (E) is turned in the floor, as shown in'Fig. 2, to prevent the rod from being turned. The upper end of the rod (B) is provided with a threaded section to receive the inner threaded sleeve nut (N) with the enlarged head or ilange portion, provided with holes Fig. 2, is a sectional view of the tubular standard (P) placed over the rod (R) provided with base (B) surrounding the tootpiece (f) ,representing a pedestal upon which is mounted a safe This pedestal is carried by the base (B), and is provided near its upper end with a shoulder (s), thus forming the reduced portion or neck (n) upon which the collar (C) is placed, resting upon the shoulder (s). The bottom of the safe is provided with a central opening equal .in diameter to that of the neclr or reduced portion (a) at the upper end ot the pedestal rlhe inner tace of the bottom of the sate may be recessed around the opening to provide a seat for the head of the nut (N), which comes even with the inner face of the safe (S).
'lo assemble the parts, the rod is first screwed into the floor until the roots-piece (7) comes lirmly in contact with the floor. rlhe pedestal (P) is placed over the rod (R), the base surrounding the foot-piece (f), and the collar (C) is placed in position on the shoulder (s). llhen the safe is placed upon the pedestal, the neclr (n) passing through the opening in the bottom ot the sate, and the sleeve nut (N) turned on to the threaded end of the rod (lt), the sleeve portion of which extends in to the upper end of the tubular neck, for the purpose of securing the object to be supported to the pedestal Ain such a manner that it can be revolved on the collar or reduced portion at upper end of the pedestal and it will not wabble or shake the fastening of the standard. lt is also apparent that my construction ail'ords secure means for sustaining the pedestal in the desired position, and can be readily detached from the door.
Having thus fully described my invention, what l claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is* ln a supporting pedestal the combination of a tubular standard and central anchoring rod, said rod being provided at its upper end with a threaded section to receive an inner threaded sleeve nut, the sleeve portion of which extends into the upper end of the standard, tor the purpose of securing the object to be supported to the standard, and rod jointly, and means for securing said rod to the Hoor.
PAUL DE (ll-UME.
