Description

NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK w. RURK, on NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR or THREE-FOURTHS TO WILLIAM H. HEBBERD AND CARRIE M. SAWYER, BOTH on SAME PLACE.
CARBIURETING COMPOUND.
SPECIFICATION forming part: of Letters Patent No. 346,803, dated August 3, 1886.
Application filed May 6, 1886. Serial No. 201,257. (Specimens) To all whom it may concern:
Be'it known that I, FRANK W. BURK, of the city and county of New York, in the State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Carbureting Compounds, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists in a carbureting compound composed of benzine, vegetable wax, and gum-camphor, .to be employed for the purpose of carbureting air for use as illumihating-gas, or as fuel for heating purposes, or for the purpose of enriching gases of poor quality for illuminating purposes.
The proportions of the several ingredients of which my compound is to be composed may be to some extent varied without essentially changing the character of the compound; but the proportions which I have found most advantageous, and therefore prefer, are as follows: benzine, twenty-five (25) gallons; vegetable wax, five (5) pounds; gum-camphor, three (3) pounds.
The vegetable wax and the gum-camphor l are dissolved in the benzine, and the compound ,the kind of wax known as bayberry wax is better.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The carbureting compound consisting of 0 benzine, vegetable wax, and gum-camphor, in proportions substantially as herein set forth.
