Description
UNITED STATES PATENT orrron.
ARTHUR, W. SWAN'BERG, MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA.
PROCESS OF INCREASING THE EFFICIENCY OF HYDBOCARBON LIQUIDS THE MATERIAL FOR EFFECTING- SUCH RESULTS.
No Drawing.
Be .it known that I, ARTHUR W. SWAN- nnac, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and. useful Improvements in Processes-of Increasing the Efiiciency of Hydrocarbon Liquids and the'Material for Effect.
ing Such Results;-and I. do hereby declare the following tobe a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention has for its object to provide an improved process for increasing the therrno and light producing efficiency of low grade hydro-carbon oil, such as low Take, for instance, one gallon of low grade gasolene or naphtha and. add thereto,
. one ounce of a powder compound from the following materials, approximately in the proportions stated, to-wit: sevenparts of naphthalene (G H and three parts of anthracene (C H \Vhere extremely high illuminating or heating efficiency, or explosive power is desired, add, also, one ounce of a liquid made up, one-half of sulfuric acid and one-half of wood alcohol.
Specification of Letters Patent.
heating efliciency, the illuminating efficiency, and the explosive power"of hydro-carbon liquid such as ga'solene and naphtha willbe very eatly' increased by the treatment and addition of the parts thereto, above described. The materials added to the hydrocarbon liquid do not increase the cost thereof very greatly, and hence there is a resulting economy in the use of the hydrocarbon liquid thus treated.
What I claim is:
1. -The process of increasing the efliciency of hydro-carbon liquids which consists in first adding thereto, powdered naphthalene and powdered anthracene, and in thereafter adding thereto, sulfuric acid and wood alcohol.
2.'A hydro-carbon liquid having therein naphthalene, anthracene, sulfuric acid, and wood alcohol in approximately proportions of one gallon of said hydro-carbon liquid, one ounce of powdered material composed of seven parts of naphthalene and three parts of anthracene, and one ounce of the liquid made up of one-half sulfuric acid and one- V half of wood alcohol.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ARTHUR w. SWANBERG.
