Description
CLARENCE JESSE CRUM, 0F OTTAWA, KANSAS.
comrosrr'ron;
@9522t, Specification of Letters Patent. No Drawing. Application filed September 14, 1910. Serial No. 582,014.
Patented June 13, 191i.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLARENCE J. CRUM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ottawa, in the county of Franklin and State of Kansas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Compositions, of which the s following is a specification.
This invention relates to compositions of matter and the object of the invention is the provision of a simple and cheaply compounded composition which may be used in automobile radiators and the like for preventing leakage thereof and rust.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a composition of this character which will be absolutely harmless to all metals and which Will prevent or avoid soldering and which will thereby consequently reduce the upkeep. 7
Further objects of the invention will appea' as the following specific description is rea The composition comprises flax seed,
graphite, lamp black, nitrobenzol and bisulfid of carbon, compounded as follows: Out of a total of 100%, 90% isflax seed ground very fine, 5% pure flake graphite, 4% lamp black, nitrobenzol and bisulfid of carbon. The fiaxseed meal or other suitable oily meal is first treated in any suitable manner to remove organic substances as by scalding or the like and the ingredients are then poured together and thoroughly mixed by a churning and rubbing process. The material is then used by placing a quantity of the same in an automobile radiator so that it will deposit a coating upon the metal inside which will prevent leaks and will also prevent corrosion and incrustation.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is- 1. A compound of the character described comprising proportionate quantities of flax seed, graphite, lamp black, nitrobenzol, and bi-sulfid of carbon.
2. A compound ofthe character described comprising an oily meal, pure flake graphite, lamp black, nitrobenzol and bi-sulfid of carbon.
3. A composition of the character described, composed of the following ingredients in the proportions named, 90% of fine flax seed meal, 5% of pure flake graphite, 4% of lamp black, of nitrobenzol and bi-sulfid of carbon.
Int-estimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CLARENCE JESSE CRUM.
