Description

C. WRIGHT.
Tool I Rest.
Patented March "Q1862. I
mlnesse UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES WRIGHT, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOOL POSTS OR HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 34,659, dated March 11, 1862.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES WRIGHT, of the city of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented an Improved Tool Post or Holder; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawin gs, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation, and Fig. 2 a sectional view.
A is the hollow base or stand of the toolpost and has a thread out upon the inside to ble B, binding it firmly against the sides of the hole in base A. When the pressure is relieved by loosening set-screw D, the toolholder can be revolved at pleasure, the' tool removed, or the whole raised and lowered by turning the thiinble B. Fig.3 represents the same thing, dispensing with the screw on the thimble, which can be used, if preferred.
The advantages gained in this invention are that the tool can be raised and lowered with ease to the exact point desired, and retain its same angle of cutting-edge for large or small diameters, and when fastened by set-screw D is firm and positive throughout, permitting no vibration or giving atany point.
What I claim, and desire to secure, is-
A tool postor holder constructed in the manner and for the purpose as hereinabove specified.
CHARLES WRIGHT.
