NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK G. GOLLON, OF HOBOKEN, NEV JERSEY.
WIND-WHEEL TOY.
EEECIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 340,872, dated April 27,1886.
Application filed December 9, 1885. Serial No. 185,141. (No model.)
T0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK (1-. GOLLON, of Hoboken, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improved lVindiVhcel Toy, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to certain improvements in the toy paper wind-wheels which are mounted to revolve on a pin on the end ofa stick; and the object of my invention is to construct the toy in such a manner that it can be revolved by blowing through the hollow stick on which it is mounted.
The invention consists in a wind-wheel constructed as will be fully described and set forth hereinafter, and then pointed out in the claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 is a front view of my improved wind-wheel toy. Fig. 2 is a crosssectional View of the same.
The tube A is closed at one end, and from the said closed end thepin 13 projects, on which the paper-wheel C is mounted to revolve, and which is made in the well-known manner, so as to have curved faces, like a propeller-wheel.
The tube A is provided near its closed end with the aperture 0, through which the air can escape to revolve the wheel, the said aperture being between the outer and inner sides of the wheel, so that the air or wind issuing from the same can act 011 the wheel.
To operate the wheel the open end of the tube A is placed in the mouth and air or wind is forced through the said tube.
In place of the tube a stick provided with a bore may be used, and in place of a paper wheel a wheel of any other light material may be used, but must always be so constructed that the air or wind can act on it.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, with a tube having one end closed, and having an aperture near said closed end, of a pin projecting from the said closed end, and of a wheel mounted to revolve on the pin and the said tube, the air-opening being inside of the said wheel, substantially as shown and described.
FRANK G. GOLLON.
