  • the machine includes further a plurality of shaft means each comprising shaft sections 24 having a length substantially equal to the length of each frame section 1 and being coupled to each other at adjacent ends by coupling means as best shown in FIGS. 5 and 6.
  • the opposite ends of each shaft section 24 are provided with coupling members 27 and 28 which are respectively turnalbly supported in bearings 29 and 32 located in part in the recesses 25 formed in each transverse member 4.
  • the coupling member 27 at one end of one shaft section 24 is iixedly connected thereto and provided with ⁇ outer peripheral teeth 3G adapted to engage with inne-r peripheral teeth 31 on the coupling member 28 of the shaft section adjacent there-to.
  • the coupling member 28 is fixed by a sliding key Z6 to the end of a shaft section 24 for rotation with the latter and movable in axial direction together with the bearing 32 between an engaged position as .shown in FIG. 5 in which the teeth 3() and 31 are interengaged with each other, and a disengaged position as shown in FIG. 6 in which the aforementioned teeth are disengaged from each other. In both positions the coupling member 28 may be fixed to the end of the shaft section 24 by a set screw 33 or the like.
  • Half of the bearings 29 and 32 are loc-ated in the recesses 2S and clamping members 34 in the form of half-cylindrical shells xed to the outer faces of the upright portions ⁇ 41 of each transverse member 4 extend .over the outer half of each bearing to hold the latter properly in place in the respective recess.
  • transverse members 4 at facing ends of adjacent trarne sections 1 abut against each other, as best shown in FIG. 1 and the abutting transverse members 4 are connected to each other in properly aligned relationship by screws 37 and dowel pins 35 as best shown in FIG. 4, which respectively extend through appropriate bores in abutting transverse members 4.
  • the dowel pins 35 may be provided with a central threaded bore therethrough for facilitating removal of the respective dowel pin from the bore in the transverse member in which it is tightly fitted.
  • the spinning machine includes further a pair of casings 2 and 3, as best shown in FIG. 1, which are respectively arranged at the ends of the frame sections 1 facing away from each other and each of the casings 2 and 3 has an end wall against which the transverse member 4 at the aforementioned end of the respective frame section abuts, connected thereto by screws ⁇ and dowel pins in the same manner as the transverse members 4 which abut against each other are connected to each other.
  • a belt 117 is arranged in an endless loop about the pulleys 15 and 15 and a corresponding belt 18 is arranged about the pulleys 16 and 16.
  • the belts 17 and 18 extend through appropriate openings in the end walls of the casings 2 and 3 and over guide pulleys located in these casings as indicated in dotted lines in FIG. 1.
  • the guide pulleys located in the casing 2 are driven by means of belt drives from the motors M1 and M2 as indicated in FIG. 1.
  • Belts 13 and 14 extend respectively in a loop about the row of guide pulleys 11 and 12, as shown in FIG.
  • the drive motors in the casing 2 as well as the drive motors in the casing 3 may -be interconnected vwith each other for instance for simultaneous starting and stopping by wires which preferably extend through the tubes 5 from one casing to the other.
  • the belts f3, I4, 17 and 18 serve to drive in a known manner individual spinning heads of the spinning machine, which are for claritys sake not illustrated in the drawings, and the shafts 24 serve to drive other movable elements of the spinning machine, likewise not shown in the drawings.
  • the frame sections ll of the spinning machine are relatively long, it is preferred to arrange between the transverse members i at the end of each Section 1 and equally spaced from both transverse members an additional transverse member 38 which may be constructed in a similar manner as the transverse member d shown in FIG. 3.
  • additional bearings may be provided for the shaft section 2li located in part in recesses formed in the side faces of the transverse members 3S and properly held therein by clamping members 34 as shown in FIG. 7.
  • the vertical plates 6 and 8 as well as the horizontal plates 9, It) and 19 may be formed from shorter sections which are connected to the transverse members 38 as shown for the plates 8 in FIG ⁇ 7.
  • each of the plates n is provided at the end edge thereof facing the end edge of the next plate with a substantially semicylindrical groove and an elongated sealing strip 41 of rubber or another elastomeric material of circular cross section is located in the grooves of the facing end edges of the plates 6 to provide a proper seal between the latter.
  • similar sealing means are provided between facing end edges of all of the aforementioned plates to provide not only a perfect airtight seal, but to reduce also transmission of noise from one section to another.
  • the air ducts '7 and Ztl are continued in downward direction through the casings 2 and 3 as schematically indicated in FIG. l by dotted lines to communicate at the bottom ends thereof with channels 7a and 20a which are respectively connected to blower and suction means to create an underpressure in the air duct 7 and an overpressure in the air duct 20.

  • a plurality of suction nozzles 23 communicate with the interior of the air duct 7 and which extend with outer ends through appropriate openings in the plates 8 so that dust, lint or other foreign matter present at the outside of the spinning machine is continuously sucked through the nozzle 23 into the air duct '7 and from their to appropriate filter means not shown in the drawing so that accumulation of dust and lint on the machine is prevented.
  • Tubes 2l communicate with the interior of the air duct and these tubes are connected at the outer ends thereof to devices of the spinning machine in which compressed air is needed.
  • Adjusting screws 39 project downwardly from the bottom walls of the casings 2 and 3 and from the lower transverse portions of the transverse members 4 and 38, engaging with the bottom ends thereof small plates 40 resting on the floor on which the spinning machine is mounted.
  • the adjusting screws 39 are adjustable in a known manner so that the elevation of the casings 2 and 3 and that of the transverse members 4 and 38 may be adjusted to a limited extent.
  • the casing 2 may be first placed on the floor and appropriately adjusted by means of the screws 39. Then the left frame section 1, as viewed in FIG. 1, is pushed against the right end wall of the casing until the left transverse member it of this section abuts against the end Wall of the casing Z. The height of this section 1 is then adjusted by means of the adjusting screws 39 and subsequently thereto the left transverse member d, as viewed in FIG. l, is connected to the right end wall of the casing by screws 37 and dowel pins 35 in the manner .as described above. Subsequently thereto the right frame section l, as viewed in FIG.
  • the clamping members 3d are then removed from the transverse members 4 and 38 and the bearings Z9 and 32 about the coupling members at the end of the shaft sections are placed in the recesses 25 of the transverse members d and 38, after which the clamping members 3dr are connected to the respective transverse members to hold the aforementioned bearings properly in place.
  • the movable coupling members 23- on the end of the shaft sections 2d are engaged with the corresponding coupling members 27 at the ends of the shaft sections adjacent thereto .and the movable coupling members are held in engaged position by the set screws 33,
  • the clamps 3d are then properly tightened to hold the bearings 29 and 32 against rotation.
  • the aforementioned driving belts are slipped over the pulleys.
  • the machine thus assembled provides for the necessary rigidity and it possesses also very good antivibration properties so that the over-all noise of the machine is reduced.
  • elongated frame means comprising a plurality of longitudinally extending identical frame sections, each section having at opposite ends thereof identical transverse members having plane end faces and the plane end face of one transverse member of each section abutting against the plane end face of a transverse member of a section adjacent thereto; connecting means connecting said transverse members of each section to each other; and combined aligning and connecting means extending only through adjacent transverse members and holding said plane end faces of adjacent transverse members in abutting relationship and preventing shifting of adjacent transverse members relative each other in vertical and horizontal direction so that upon removal of said combined aligning and connecting means, said frame sections may be moved relative to each other in direction of said plane end faces without shifting said sections in longitudinal directions, whereby removal of one frame section from a series of such sections is simplilied.
  • each of said transverse members has a pair of opposite side faces extending in longitudinal direction of said frame means, and including a plurality of drive shaft means respectively located adjacent said opposite side faces and extending longitudinally of said elongated frame means, each of said drive shaft means including a plurality of shaft sections having each a length substantially equal to the length of the respective frame section, and coupling means for releasably coupling the shaft sections of each shaft means to each other, each of said coupling means including a pair of coupling members respectively connected to adjacent ends of said shaft sections, .at least one coupling member of each pair being connected to the respective shaft section movable in axial direction between an engaged position in which an end portion thereof projects beyond the end face of the respective transverse member and engages the end portion of the other coupling member and a disengaged position in which both end portions of said coupling members .are substantially flush with the respective end faces of said transverse members so as not to obstruct shifting of said frame sections relative to each
  • each transverse member is formed with recesses extending from said side faces into the respective transverse member, wherein said supporting means are at least in part located in said recesses and inwardly of the respective end face, and wherein said coupling members are at least in part also located in said recesses.
  • connecting means include an elongated tube extending in longitudinal direction of said frame means and connecting portions of transverse members of each section to each other, the elongated tubes of adjacent sections being aligned and communicate with each other.
  • said connecting means include a plurality of plates extending longitudinally of said frame means, said plates being fixed to said transverse members of each section and arranged to form at least one air duct extending longitudinally between the transverse members of each section, the duct of each section being aligned and communicates with the duct of the section adjacent thereto.
  • said connecting means include an elongated tube extending in longitudinal direction of said frame means and connecting the lower portions of transverse members of each section to each other, the elongated tubes of adjacent sections being aligned and communicate with each other, and a plurality of horizontal and vertical plates extending fixed to an upper portion of the transverse members of each section in longitudinal direction of said frame means and being arranged to form two adjacent air ducts extending longitudinally between the transverse members of each section, and the ducts of each section being aligned with and communicate with the corresponding duct of the section adjacent thereto.
  • each of said transverse members is constituted by an in* tegral frame structure having .at least in the upper portion thereof projections having faces extending in longitudinal direction of said frame means for fastening said plates thereto.
  • said combined connecting and aligning means include a plurality of screws and dowel pins extending through appropriate bores in abutting transverse members of adjacent sections.
